From today, Velocity Frequent Flyer members will be able to earn Velocity Points through the popular rideshare platform DiDi.
This new partnership comes after Velocity and Ola cut ties in May 2023. Subsequently, there has been no means of earning Velocity Points from rideshares until now.
Unlike the Uber and Qantas Frequent Flyer partnership, where you can only earn Qantas Points on rides to and from Australian airports, you’ll be able to earn Velocity Points on all rides with DiDi.
The earn rate is one Velocity Point per $1 spent on eligible rides. This spend excludes tolls, airport fees, promotions, and other charges that do not form part of the base ride fare.
To earn Velocity Points when riding with DiDi, you must link your Velocity Frequent Flyer account. Simply download the DiDi app, and log in or create a new account, ensuring you add your Velocity Frequent Flyer number when prompted.

Bonus: Earn 1,000 Velocity Points when linking your account to DiDi
Until 15 May 2024, new and existing DiDi users can earn 1,000 bonus Velocity Points when linking their Velocity Frequent Flyer account.
ABN holders can also link their Virgin Australia Business Flyer account to receive an additional 1,000 bonus Velocity Points. Note that the 1,000 Velocity Points bonus can take up to 31 days to credit to your account.
If you have both a personal Velocity Frequent Flyer account and Virgin Australia Business Flyer account, you can toggle the primary account for earning Velocity Points in the DiDi app. You can only earn points for one account at a time.
And if you want to double-dip on rewards when you next ride, you can use a credit card that earns Velocity Points as your payment method in the DiDi app.

gotta be the easiest way to earn 1000 points, i dont use rideshare much like 1 time every 2 years but i downloaded didi just to get a quick 1000 points
Bonus points appeared in my Velocity account less than a minute after linking Didi and Velocity accounts. Wow! Impressive, indeed!! That’s how it should be done.
Qantas sure could learn a thing (or two) from Virgin when it comes to crediting accounts in timely fashion when they do these tie-ups. FWIW: I’m still waiting after 19 months for Qantas points after a Qantas/Stan tie-up..
Linked tonight. Bonus points appeared in my account immediately. Good move from velocity and DiDi
That’s good news. Ola was awful.
Pretty annoyed that Uber halved the number of points earned on airport rides, unless using the vasty more expensive Uber Reserve. This deal come at just the right time. I mostly collect Qantas points, but this partnership will be a great way to ensure my Velocity account always stays active.
