Singapore Airlines’ Melbourne SilverKris Lounge takes shape

Set for completion in September 2026, this may be Melbourne's best Business Class lounge.

The loungescape at Melbourne Airport is shifting with Singapore Airlines’ upcoming Melbourne SilverKris Lounge set to open in September 2026, months earlier than planned. The 750 sqm lounge is designed in collaboration with Ong & Ong in Singapore and will be 30% larger than the current space.

New renders released by Perth-based architecture firm MODE show a stylish new space that echoes the design of the SilverKris Perth Lounge and the airline’s revamped lounges at Changi Airport. Here’s what we know so far.

The render also shows international power ports at each table.

First images of the Singapore Airlines Melbourne SilverKris lounge

As first reported by Point Hacks at the opening of Singapore Airlines’ new Terminal 2 SilverKris First Class Lounge, the upcoming Melbourne lounge will break free of the ‘dungeon’ precinct and take residence in prime space previously occupied by the Aspire Lounge (previously The House and before that, Etihad’s premium lounge).

Located upstairs above Gates 11 and 15, the SilverKris lounge will retain its separate Business and First Class sections. The entrance is visible in the featured image above.

The SilverKris Lounge will be opposite the Emirates Lounge on Level 2.

The main lounge seating area will take up the bulk of the space – we imagine the pairings by the windows will be popular, as will the solo productivity pods dotted throughout.

Hungry passengers will undoubtedly make a beeline for the dining room, where the open kitchen awaits. If the Perth SilverKris Lounge kitchen is anything to go by, the dining experience in Melbourne will be a significant upgrade over the current lounge.

There seems to be ample space during peak periods, spread across a mix of dining and bar tables. In the background, there will be several larger areas for groups.

Finally, on the other side of the dining room, there will be a staffed bar serving barista-made coffee and, presumably, a wide selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. In Perth, that ranges from kombucha to a comprehensive cocktail list, featuring the SilverKris Sling.

At the moment, we don’t have any images of the First Class section or the bathroom facilities.

Summing up

Singapore Airlines’ SilverKris Lounge in Melbourne is ticking along nicely and appears to be on track to open earlier than planned, in September 2026. From the initial renders, Singapore Airlines is investing heavily in its outstation lounges, and Melbourne looks poised to take over as the airline’s best overseas lounge.

In fact, when this is finished, we’d wager that it will also be the best Business Class lounge at Melbourne Airport. Singapore Airlines’ Business Class customers, along with its Elite Gold and PPS Club members, will have a lot to like here.

It’s also good news for fellow Star Alliance Gold flyers and Virgin Australia’s Velocity Gold (and higher) members, who will also have access when departing on Singapore Airlines.
