Earning Velocity Points on your car hire with Hertz is now even more rewarding.

Under the chain’s latest reward rates, most Velocity Frequent Flyer members will take home 33% more Velocity Points. Road warriors can also win a share of 1,000,000 bonus Velocity Points, just by hiring with Hertz.

Here are the latest deals, promotions and offers on car hire with Velocity.

Offer 1: book car hire with Hertz to win 250,000 Velocity Points

Expiry: Book by 30 January 2022 for car rentals starting by 27 February 2022 and concluding by 28 March 2022.

Four lucky Velocity Frequent Flyer members will take home 250,000 bonus Velocity Points this quarter. That’s a cool one million Velocity Points on the table, for travellers hiring cars with Hertz.

You’ll automatically enter the draw when booking an eligible rental with Hertz. Be sure to attach your Velocity Frequent Flyer number to the reservation.

Do note that while Velocity says your travel dates can be up until 28 March 2022, the prize draw takes place on 28 February 2022. Reading through the offer’s fine print, customers are only entered into that draw after collecting their hire car. Merely making a booking doesn’t make the cut.

To be on the safe side – and in with a chance – you’ll want to collect your rental car no later than 27 February 2022.

Offer 2: earn more Velocity Points with Hertz

Expiry: Enjoy this improvement going forward as the ‘new normal’ with Hertz.

Moving its partnership with Hertz into the next gear, Velocity members can now earn even more points on car hire.

On all Hertz bookings in Australia and New Zealand, you’ll now fetch at least four Velocity Points per dollar spent. That’s up from a minimum of three Velocity Points per dollar spent previously.

Velocity Silver, Gold and Platinum members continue to earn bonus Velocity Points with Hertz. These bonuses are no longer percentage-based. Instead, the earning rate is fixed per dollar spent – which works out to be the same as these members were earning before. This provides:

  • 4 Velocity Points per dollar spent for Velocity Red members, per these changes.
  • 4.5 Velocity Points per dollar spent at Velocity Silver.
  • 5.25 Velocity Points per dollar spent when Velocity Gold.
  • 6 Velocity Points per dollar spent for top-tier Velocity Platinum cardholders.

There’s no change to the number of points earned with Hertz on other international bookings. These remain fixed as follows:

  • 800 Velocity Points per booking for Velocity Red.
  • 1,200 Velocity Points per reservation for Velocity Silver.
  • 1,400 Velocity Points per hire for Velocity Gold.
  • 1,600 Velocity Points per rental for Velocity Platinum.

Earn Velocity Points on car hire every day

Beyond the short-term offers above, you can also earn Velocity Points every time you hire a car.

With Europcar and Thrifty, collect three Velocity Points per $1 spent as a Velocity Red member. Even more rewards await for elite frequent flyers. For every $1 spent, take home a higher 4.5 Velocity Points as Velocity Silver, or 5.25 Velocity Points with Velocity Gold.

Have a Velocity Platinum card in your wallet? You’ll be rewarded with six Velocity Points per dollar spent.

Over at Hertz, Velocity Silver, Gold and Platinum members can also earn points at the rates above. For Velocity Red members, the earning rate is four Velocity Points per $1 spent. For these entry-level members, that’s a higher earning rate than with Hertz’s competitors.

Summing up

Whether it’s a bounty of bonus points or rewards on your regular car hire, it’s easy to keep your Velocity account topped up.

Be sure to list your Velocity Frequent Flyer number with every rental – and double-check those points land in your account in the weeks that follow.
