Earn more Velocity Points, Status Credits

In practical terms, the ability to travel on Singapore Airlines with VA flight numbers means Velocity members can enjoy greater rewards. Velocity Silver, Gold and Platinum members can enjoy a 50%, 75% or 100% boost to the points earned on VA-codeshare flights, respectively.

For example, someone flying Business Class from Sydney to London could earn around 13,300 Velocity Points with an SQ-coded flight, or up to 21,300 Velocity Points under the VA codeshare. And if they were a Platinum frequent flyer, they could pocket as much as 42,600 Velocity Points, one-way!

Virgin Australia and Singapore Airlines are certainly in it for the long run. Both airlines extended their alliance partnership for a further five years, with the agreement now lasting until 2027.

Singapore Airlines Senior Vice President of Marketing & Planning, JoAnn Tan, noted the longstanding partnership between Virgin Australia and Singapore Airlines.

The return of the VA code on SIA flights provides even more opportunities for Australians to seamlessly explore the world, no matter where they are based. As more countries across Asia remove travel restrictions, it also opens up Australia to travellers from these regions.
