Virgin Australia and Singapore Airlines resume codeshare
Departure boards around the world will feature 'VA' codes on Singapore Airlines flights.
What we'll be covering
In another step towards normalcy, Virgin Australia’s ‘VA’ code will begin appearing on many flights within the Singapore Airlines global network. Flights are now on sale on the Virgin Australia website, and passengers can purchase VA-coded flights to Asia, Africa, Europe and beyond.
Brush off the cobwebs from your suitcase and jet off to 42 destinations under the codeshare, including scintillating Seoul or pulsating Paris. Likewise, Singapore Airlines passengers can venture to 31 destinations across Virgin Australia’s network, including Queenstown.
Earn more Velocity Points, Status Credits
In practical terms, the ability to travel on Singapore Airlines with VA flight numbers means Velocity members can enjoy greater rewards. Velocity Silver, Gold and Platinum members can enjoy a 50%, 75% or 100% boost to the points earned on VA-codeshare flights, respectively.
For example, someone flying Business Class from Sydney to London could earn around 13,300 Velocity Points with an SQ-coded flight, or up to 21,300 Velocity Points under the VA codeshare. And if they were a Platinum frequent flyer, they could pocket as much as 42,600 Velocity Points, one-way!
From a status perspective, VA-coded Singapore Airlines flights count as part of the eligible flight sector count. Some routes and cabin classes earn slightly more Status Credits, as well.
Virgin Australia’s Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer, Alistair Hartley, says that the return of codeshare flights would create a seamless customer booking experience.

The return of the VA code on SIA flights provides even more opportunities for Australians to seamlessly explore the world, no matter where they are based.
