We’re in the lead up to Christmas, and let’s be honest, at this time of year you probably need to stock up on booze before the festive season. Here’s how to maximise the points on offer for Alcohol purchases.

Qantas Frequent Flyer

The best range of options open to the Qantas point collector.

Cellarmasters – 2 points per dollar

An online only wine merchant (also selling some beer), Cellarmasters offers 1 Everyday Rewards point (= 1 Qantas Frequent Flyer) point per dollar, as well as 1 Qantas point per dollar on top too. You need to add your Everyday Rewards account to your account, as well as provide your Qantas Frequent Flyer number in the checkout flow.

The Cellarmasters links here give me a $20 credit for anyone who makes a purchase, so thanks if you do.

Woolworths & B.W.S. – online and in store – 1 point per dollar

Woolworths, of course, offer Everyday Rewards points for transactions over $30. They have a range of alcohol available through the Woolworths website for home delivery, as well as available in store through B.W.S., accruing 1 Everyday Rewards point (= 1 Qantas point) per dollar spent over $30.

Double points until 9th December for Woolworths Qantas card holders

I also received an email late last week that holders of the Woolworths Qantas Mastercard also get a couple of weeks of double Qantas points until 9th December, so get in there early and you could be up for 3 points per dollar (including card spend) on alcohol if you’re in the same position.

Qantas Epiqure – 3 points per dollar

Qantas Epiqure Wine membership offers 3 points per dollar spent with free delivery. Normally there’s a $99 joining fee, but the AusBT guys recently outlined a free membership code that you can use when signing up for free membership – ‘loungejoin’.

You also receive 2000 bonus points with your first purchase of a 12 bottle case, so if you’re thinking of ordering a case, it may be worth it even if the wine is a little more expensive than at local stores. There’s also a discount code valid until 21st December for 10% off one order – ‘catalogue10’.

Membership Rewards

winedirect.com.au – 5 points per dollar

Winedirect.com.au are offering 5 x Membership Rewards points per $ on purchases until December 31st at the earliest as a Membership Rewards bonus partner.

Virgin Australia Velocity

Virgin Wines – 3 points per dollar, 1000 bonus points on sign up

Virgin Wines offer 3 Velocity points per dollar for regular orders, and 1000 points if you sign up to their ‘Discovery Club’ for $99 which offers a case sent to you once every 3 months.

Conclusion

I think that’s every retailer selling alcohol that also offers points. For beer, try Woolworths / BWS or Cellarmasters has a few beers available. For liquor, Woolworths / BWS is your only option, and for wine, Winedirect is probably the most lucrative for points, but maybe after your first case with Epiqure for 2k Qantas points.
