Starwood Preferred Guest are partnering and will have you earning at least 1 Starpoint per US dollar for every ride made with Uber.

There’s only one catch – you’ll need to have made a Starwood hotel stay in the current calendar year before you can earn any SPG points for that year.

But on the upside, you’ll earn double points if you Uber during your stay at a Starwood hotel.

Why is this partnership so great?

It gives me an additional incentive to use Uber to pre-book taxis for work and personal expenses, rather than just hailing them off the street, and I’ll feel slightly less hard-done by when using the more expensive Uber Black when I have to as well.

Starwood Preferred Guest, for those who aren’t aware, is one of the most stable loyalty programs out there with a huge range of frequent flyer program partners – with the main missing exception for us, Qantas Frequent Flyer. Velocity are a partner though.

Uber is a great addition into the mix of American Express Membership Rewards, Diners and Starwood hotel stays for Starpoint earn.
