Membership Rewards added a few new bonus partner offers this month, and renewed some of the others due to expire at the end of September.
Catching my eye from the new partners was BP – Amex is now offering a 5 points per $ bonus on spend at BP with registration, which when combined with the 2 points per $ already given with the Platinum Edge, is pretty compelling to make you call into BP for fuel. The offer expires on December 31st. There’s a lot of stuff available at BP, so I’m keen to go check out whether there’s anything like vouchers that can be bought and resold for a minimal loss for mileage gain. I’ll be sure to let you know…
Also new is Air New Zealand, with 5 points per $ on bookings over $400.
The 10 points per dollar AAMI bonus has been continued – a great deal if they are competitive for your home or car insurances.
Amex have also assured me that these bonuses are offered with Qantas Amex cards as well, which is not widely promoted. Your mileage may vary. If true, it means you get a better bonus (extra 5 points) by booking Air NZ on your Qantas Amex, than you do with Qantas (extra 1 point). Kind of ironic.
