Abu Dhabi-based carrier Etihad has a lot to celebrate right now. International borders are open and Etihad has also notched up 15 years of flying to Australia. So what’s the best way for an airline to party in style? Well, Etihad is chartering a special Boeing 787 to Abu Dhabi, and you have the chance to win 1 of 100 double passes!
The General Manager of Etihad in ANZ, Sarah Built, revealed that more than 9.5 million passengers had flown with Etihad on Australian routes since 2007.

Wondering what’s on offer? You and a plus one will enjoy return flights to Abu Dhabi, four nights accommodation with breakfast, and a myriad of activities while you’re there. The competition is easy to enter, and all members will also pocket 1,000 Etihad Guest miles just for signing up. Here’s what you need to know.
What’s the Etihad BIG Australian Celebration?
The BIG Australian Celebration is Etihad’s gift to Australia. One hundred lucky travellers will win an all-expenses-paid trip to Abu Dhabi. Each winner will enjoy the following:
- 2x Economy return tickets from Sydney to Abu Dhabi on Etihad, departing 2 April 2022
- Connecting domestic flights to Sydney if you are based elsewhere in Australia
- Four nights of accommodation including breakfast and airport transfers
- Selected activities while you’re in Abu Dhabi
The return flight from Abu Dhabi is booked for 7 April 2022, but you’re able to change that date once. Want to stay longer, or use Abu Dhabi as a launchpad for Europe or other countries? That’s easily done.

- If you haven’t already, sign up for an Etihad Guest membership.
- Visit the competition page and submit your entry before 8 March 2022.
- Enter your personal details, including email and Etihad Guest number
- Answer ‘Why do you want to join us on the BIG Australian Celebration?’
- Also answer ‘What have you missed most about travelling?’
This is a game of skill, so your entries will be judged. Winners will be contacted by phone from 9 March to 14 March 2022. Keep your eyes open for any unexpected incoming calls!
Summing up
Etihad has undoubtedly had some tough times, including ceasing services to Brisbane and Perth.
