Update: As of 1 December 2020, some of the benefits mentioned in this article are no longer available to cardholders of the ANZ Reward Travel Adventures Card. Please click here to read our updated card guide.

ANZ this week launched a new travel-focused companion American Express and Visa account – “ANZ Rewards Travel Adventures card”.

The launch offer has no bonus points, with the card instead trading on it’s travel features – including a complimentary return domestic flight with Virgin Australia and two single entry Virgin Australia lounge passes each year until the card is cancelled, with both benefits kicking in after $500 in minimum spend on eligible purchases in the first 3 months after opening the account.

ANZ have also added one of the best and unique features to this account – no overseas transaction fee on purchases on either the Visa or the American Express card, with full points earn. This means a saving of 2–3% in fees on non-AUD transactions most other cards in the market.

The card is linked to the regular ANZ Rewards program where points can be transferred to Velocity, KrisFlyer and Asia Miles, with an earn rate of 2 ANZ Rewards
points per $ on the American Express, and 1 ANZ Rewards point per $ on the Visa.

All up this is a very interesting product launch from ANZ. I’ll be writing up a full guide to the card and its benefits for publication as soon as I can get stuck into the all the necessary details and write it up.
