4 ways to maximise points from EOFY offers

Turn 'end of financial year' to a boosted points balance.

EOFY 2026

The end of the financial year isn’t a particularly exciting event (unless you’re an accountant, perhaps?), but it is one of the best opportunities to boost your points balance while potentially saving money.

From bonus points on insurance policies to elevated credit card sign-up offers, many loyalty programs and financial institutions roll out promotions around EOFY to attract new customers. With a little planning, you can turn expenses you were already considering into a bigger stash of points.

Here are three ways to make the most of EOFY offers this year.

Look at switching services (e.g. health insurance)

EOFY is a popular time for insurers, utilities and subscription providers to compete for new customers.

If you’ve been thinking about switching health insurance, this can be a particularly rewarding category to watch. Health funds frequently partner with loyalty programs to offer bonus points or gift cards to new members. Current examples in 2026 include:

Earning Velocity Points

  • Up to 150,000 Velocity Points with Medibank if you meet the criteria and sign up between 1-30 June 2026. Use the promo code ‘VELOCITY’ on the Medibank join form.
  • Up to 130,000 Flybuys points with HCF if you join and stay for at least 10 months. Additionally, earn 15x bonus Flybuys points at Coles, Bunnings and Officeworks for two months when you join and make your first premium payment by 30 June 2026. Flybuys points convert to Velocity at 2:1.

Earning Qantas Points

  • Up to 200,000 Qantas Points with Qantas Health Insurance if you join and stay at least 15 months. Sign up by 30 June 2026.
  • Up to 120,000 Everyday Rewards points with BUPA if you meet the criteria and sign up before 8 July 2026. Everyday Rewards points convert to Qantas Points at 2:1.

Of course, points shouldn’t be the only factor when choosing a provider. Make sure the policy still suits your needs and budget. Also keep in mind that the advertised ‘up to’ price usually applies for premiums in the highest price ranges and requires you to remain as a member for a set period.

But if you’re already comparing options, a bonus points offer can be a useful tiebreaker.

Lock in higher sign-up bonuses on business credit cards

EOFY is also one of the busiest periods for business credit card promotions.

Many issuers increase their sign-up bonuses around this time of year as businesses review expenses and prepare for a new financial year. It’s not uncommon to see offers of 150,000 points or more, particularly on cards linked to frequent flyer programs.

For small business owners, these elevated bonuses can represent a substantial return on spending that might occur anyway. Business cards may also offer features such as employee cards, higher credit limits and detailed expense reporting.

If you’ve been considering a new business card, EOFY can be one of the most lucrative times to apply. Just make sure you understand the annual fee, eligibility criteria and minimum spend requirements before signing up.

Take advantage of EOFY deals to meet minimum spends and earn points

Most rewards credit cards require you to spend a certain amount within the first few months of approval. Conveniently, EOFY sales often create an opportunity to reach that target faster.

Whether you’re purchasing office equipment, upgrading technology, replacing appliances or bringing forward planned purchases, EOFY discounts can help you tick off both goals at once: saving money and unlocking bonus points sooner. Doing them before 30 June 2026 could also make them eligible for tax deductions (check with your accountant).

The key is to avoid spending purely for the sake of earning points. Instead, focus on purchases you were already intending to make and use them strategically to satisfy the card’s minimum spend requirement.

Earn larger cashbacks during EOFY

While EOFY is a concept for businesses, consumers can cash in too. Australia’s major cashback sites – Shopback and Topcashback – along with Qantas Shopping and the Velocity e-Store, all offer boosted cashbacks during June. Recent examples include:

  • 10% cashback on Virgin Australia flights (Shopback)
  • 15% cashback at Expedia (Topcashback)
  • 3 Qantas Points per dollar at The Good Guys (Qantas Shopping)
  • 5 Velocity Points per dollar at Myer (Velocity e-Store)
Earn boosted Velocity Points at selected retailers during the sale.

What’s the difference? Shopback and Topcashback offer true cashback – money in your account after you make a purchase from a retailer. Qantas Shopping and the Velocity e-Store operate on a similar concept, but offer Qantas Points or Velocity Points, respectively.

Summing up

EOFY promotions can be one of the easiest ways to accelerate your points earning without stepping on a plane. Whether you’re switching providers, applying for a new business credit card or making planned purchases during EOFY sales, a little planning can go a long way.

Stack the right offers together and you could finish the financial year with a healthier points balance and your next reward flight a little closer.
