With return flights in Economy Class in August pricing around $300-400, flying in a flat-bed Business Class seat on the new LATAM 787 Dreamliner for less than double the price of an Economy ticket is a steal! Plus, you can return basically whenever you wish.
LATAM is the result of the amalgamation of LAN of Chile and TAM of Brazil, and it is a oneworld (and, thus, Qantas) partner.
The Business Class configuration is 2-2-2, so not direct aisle access for everybody, but should not be a big problem for a short flight (3 hours 20 mins to Auckland, 3 hours 40 mins to Sydney).
