As if I need another reason to love Malaysia Airlines Enrich – beyond it’s amazingly good availability and cheap redemptions on Malaysia Airlines, the Enrich guys have gone and discounted a wide range of routes by 30%.
First up – the booking period is 1st May to July 31st, with travel from May 1st to October 31st.
The routes for this promotion are fairly broad, but unfortunately don’t include Australia-Malaysia, or US-Malaysia, which makes it less useful for us. However if you were planning on a multi leg Malaysia Airlines redemption to one of the promotion destination with a stopover in Kuala Lumpur, this will still reduce the total number points needed – stopovers on Enrich bookings have to be facilitated by two one way bookings.
The destinations included (to/from Kuala Lumpur) are…
- Amsterdam, Paris, Frankfurt, Istanbul, London
- Auckland
- Beijing, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Kunming, Shanghai, Taipei, Xiamen
- Kota Kinabulu – Hong Kong, Shanghai & Taipei, Kuching – Hong Kong
- Medan, Phuket, Singapore, Bali, Hanoi, Manila
- Bandar Seri, Bandawan, Bangkok, Ho Chi Minh, Jakarta, Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, Yangon
Points can be transferred to Malaysia Airlines Enrich over from Amex Membership Rewards or Westpac Altitude Rewards.
Here are some of the example costs – look for the lowest amounts for each class for the normal redemption cost where there is proper award availability. Business Class to Europe from Asia for 38,500 miles? Bargain.

There isn’t an offer page on either the Enrich or Malaysia Airlines website, but there’s more detail in the [pdf version of the World of Riches inflight magazine].(http://www.malaysiaairlines.com/content/dam/mas/master/en/pdf/enrich/worldofriches.pdf).
Keith – are Economy->Business upgrades a good value use of Enrich points? Do you know many points would be needed for a one way upgrade from KL->Europe?
Also, is the MR:Enrich conversion rate 4:3 or 1:1? I can’t seem to find clarity on this (some places I read say 1:1, some bits of the MR site say 4:3).
Cheers
Jeff – definitely 1:1 from Amex. Upgrades – going to dig into this and get back to you…
This could be interesting however it would be good to know the different costs for getting from Aus to Malaysia especially as you could do that bit in Y potentially as the business class product doesn’t have flat beds.
Paul – it’s 34k Enrich Miles in Business Class one way, 630 MYR in taxes for KUL-SYD. Took this trip in August last year.
FYI, Amex Membership Rewards points are not the only way to get MH points from CCs in Australia – Westpac Altitude Rewards definitely offers transfers to MH, and I think Diners might too.
Fair point, I always forget Altitude. Will correct.
