livingsocial, one the new crop of ‘group buying’ discount sites has partnered with British Airways to offer some significant discounts to travellers departing from Australia, and buying a ticket with BA.
For only $49, you get $250 off any Economy or $500 off any Premium Economy return British Airways operated flight from Sydney to Europe, while $99 will get the more discerning traveler $1,000 off a Business Class fare
And the fine print… (key exclusions highlighted by me)
One voucher can be used per person per return flight • Limit 5 vouchers per person total, up to 5 additional as gifts • To be redeemed starting August 12, 2011 • Codeshare flights not included in the offer • Valid on outbound travel from Sydney to UK/Europe from 12th August 2011 until the 31st May 2012 • Voucher must be used before 31st March 2012 and no extension apply • Discount applies to all British Airways published fares as shown on ba.com • Voucher can only be redeemed online or by telephone • Fare terms and conditions will be shown on ba.com at the time of booking • Voucher not valid for travel from 15 December 2011 to 15 January 2012 • Child/Infant discount apply to voucher value (75% child fare means the voucher value is 75% of the $250 discount and 10% of the $250 for infant fares) • Bookings must be made against the voucher purchased, as failure to do so will mean the booking will be cancelled • Voucher cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer redeemed at ba.com
Not a bad deal if you know you’ll be booking flights to Europe, and want (or need) to travel on BA within the next 9 months. The offer expires on the 10th August, so get in quick if you think it’s for you. Bear in mind that BA only operates flights out of Sydney (no codeshares included) so you’ll need to make your way to SYD anyway to take advantage of the offer (which may preclude buying the voucher as you might not make a saving).
