Watch out everyone, there’s a new airport in town! Western Sydney Airport is officially open, with some airlines already operating flights to and from the airport. (And inexplicably, some travellers have already accidentally ended up at Western Sydney Airport!)
Here’s a look at the current and future airlines operating flights to Western Sydney International Airport and how you can use points to get there.
Airlines currently operating flights
| As of 1 November 2026 |
Jetstar
Jetstar is the first airline to start flights to and from the new Western Sydney Airport. Since opening day on 25 October 2026, Jetstar has been operating up to 24 return services a week using its Airbus A320 aircraft.
Want to use points to get there? You can book these eligible flights using Qantas Points. Fees and carrier charges are not included in the points price and will need to be paid on top – it’s around $42 each way.

| Western Sydney to Melbourne | 5,700 Qantas Points |
| Western Sydney to Gold Coast | 5,700 Qantas Points |
| Western Sydney to Brisbane | 5,700 Qantas Points |

To be honest, cash Jetstar fares will usually be better value than points if they’re on sale. But reward seats booked through Qantas include an overhead cabin bag and a checked baggage allowance.
Air New Zealand
Air New Zealand operated the first international service from Western Sydney to Auckland on 26 October 2026. The airline will run three return flights per week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, using its A320 and A321 aircraft.
Want to use points to get there? Air New Zealand Airpoints members may be able to redeem eligible flights with points through Koru, subject to availability. Airpoints rewards are dynamically priced.
You can book Air NZ with points and miles of other Star Alliance carriers, such as Singapore Airlines and Air Canada. Economy reward seats are plentiful, but watch the fees and charges.

Upcoming flights to WSI

Want to use points to get there? You can redeem these flights with eligible Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer miles, subject to reward seat availability. Fees and carrier charges are additional to the points price. WSI does not appear to be bookable from the Virgin Australia website at the moment.

As a budget carrier, you’ll likely find that sale fares will be more attractive to book than using SkyPoints (which are difficult to collect anyway).

Qantas
Qantas will launch domestic flights between Western Sydney Airport and Melbourne and Brisbane on 28 March 2027. These services are expected to increase to four weekly flights to both cities.
