Read on to learn more about how Qantas Shopping works, or watch our video below.
What is Qantas Shopping?
Qantas Shopping is the airline’s version of an online shopping portal, allowing Qantas Frequent Flyer members to earn points on purchases from a large range of online partner retailers.
Every day, you could be earning up to 7 Qantas Points per $1 spent at major retailers – and even more during special promo periods! Add to that a Qantas Points-earning credit card, and you can see how easy it is to earn Qantas Points while shopping.
‘Online malls’ work by getting you to click through to a partner retailer, then tracking your purchases to award bonus points to your loyalty account.
And the ‘online mall’ format isn’t exclusive to Qantas, either. In fact, Velocity Frequent Flyer members can earn points via the Velocity e-Store, and Cathay members can earn via the Asia Miles iShop. Or, if you’d rather earn cash instead of points, consider a cashback website like Cashrewards, TopCashback or ShopBack. Many of these online malls carry the same retailers, so you can take your pick of loyalty programs or cashback offers.

How do I earn Qantas Points with Qantas Shopping?
The main way to enter the shopping portal is to head to the Qantas Shopping website on a desktop, laptop or tablet.
One advantage of Qantas is that the airline has mobile-optimised its portal. This makes it much faster to get into the online store when using your mobile, which is pretty handy.
The Qantas Shopping online mall works by tracking the purchases you make at participating retailers, so it can credit you with Qantas Points for each dollar you spend.
- To start, head to the Qantas Shopping home page and log in to your Qantas Frequent Flyer account
- Click on the retailer you wish to shop at. The page will tell you how many Qantas Points you can earn per dollar, plus any applicable promo codes you can use.
- Complete your purchase on the retailer’s website. Do not visit other websites during this time, or your purchase might not track
- When you have checked out, that’s it! Sit tight and wait a few weeks (or months) for the points to credit.

What do I need to know when using Qantas Shopping?
Some retailers may have exclusions on products that won’t earn Qantas Points, such as buying gift cards or when a transaction is paid using gift cards. These conditions can be found on the retailer’s offer page.
The Qantas Shopping online mall relies on digital cookies to track your purchases. That means you should ensure nothing is blocking cookies or ads on the pages you wish to visit.
To ensure successful tracking of purchases, make sure you click through the retailer on Qantas Shopping while logged in to your Qantas Frequent Flyer account. Do not visit any other webpages until the transaction is complete.
If you do visit other pages or fail to make a transaction, make sure to click back through the Qantas Shopping website on your next attempt.
Cashback websites, such as Cashrewards and Shopback, use the same mechanism to award cashback. So, unfortunately, you can’t double-dip with Qantas Points and cashback websites.

Don’t forget to finalise the purchase with a Qantas Points-earning credit card to double-dip on your rewards.

What is the Qantas Shopping Points-Prompter?
Don’t miss a deal with the Qantas Shopping Points-Prompter, a handy extension you can install into your Safari, Firefox or Chrome web browser. The tool highlights bonus Qantas Points earning opportunities when you’re shopping online.

Just head to the Points-Prompter webpage to install the plugin. Whenever you browse an eligible site, a pop-up will appear saying Earn X Qantas Points per $1 spent. Complete the check-out process as usual, and bonus Qantas Points will be credited to your account, assuming your purchase satisfies all the terms and conditions.
It’s important to note that not all stores have opted-in to this feature, and people with privacy concerns should know that this feature may track your browsing history.
The advantages of Qantas Shopping Points-Prompter are:
- It’s free to install.
- It will automatically alert you about opportunities to earn Qantas Points on eligible websites.
- It shows points-earning opportunities in Google searches.
The disadvantages of Qantas Shopping Points-Prompter are:
- Not all partners are included – excluded stores are listed here.
- When you install the extension, Qantas can read your data across all websites you visit. So, make sure to take into consideration privacy concerns when deciding whether to install Points-Prompter.
Summing up
Qantas Shopping is an easy option if you’re looking to earn more Qantas Points from your general spending. So, make sure you explore the full list of partners on the Qantas Shopping portal to maximise your points-earning potential.
If you can understand how online malls work and how important it is to click out to a retailer through Qantas Shopping before making a transaction, then earning bonus points on purchases will become second-nature.
Don’t forget to double-dip by paying with a points-earning credit card to boost your rewards.

FAQs
Yes, you can easily search for participating retailers on the Qantas Shopping website. Or, you can install the Qantas Shopping Points Prompter, which is a browser extension for Safari, Chrome and Firefox users that notifies you whenever a website works with Qantas Shopping.
It will usually take a few weeks to a few months for Qantas Points to credit from online shopping, as each retailer has different timelines. This is to ensure that changes aren’t made to the transaction, such as cancellations and refunds, which would otherwise cancel out your reward.
Your tracked purchases should be viewable within your Qantas Shopping account within 2-7 days of completion. If it’s still not there after two weeks, contact the Qantas Shopping team.
No, both these rewards use the last click-through to track a transaction. This means you can’t double-dip with both Qantas Points and cashback. The last click will dictate what reward you get.
Bought something from Myer through Qantas shopping and never got points because Myer made an error with the order. They corrected it but you don’t get the points if you have to exchange- even when it’s the retailer’s fault. Can’t be bothered to try again
These days, shopping thru Qantas shopping portal is hit and miss for points, even if you’ve downloaded the tracker and enabled cookies. My score rate for a fully eligible transaction actually getting credited is now only about 50%. For the rest, it seems 40% gets ‘tracked’ but doesn’t ever get acknowledged as ‘pending’ (and there doesn’t get credited). 10% of the time the transaction doesn’t even show up! Automated requests for getting points credited don’t seem to get anywhere either. And I couldn’t be bothered wasting 5 hours of my life waiting on the phone to speak to a useless agent.
@ Evin
Great QF promo – I’m sure Olivia will be delighted.
But have you done the math? At what earn rate (points per dollar bonus) does a QF retail mall promotion start to become compelling (how many points per dollar)?
If the store I click through to (petbarn) has the option to set up repeat orders when I make the purchase, will I get points on those too? Or only the first order gets tracked?
Hi Alex, usually you’ll only get bonus points on the first order. Subsequent orders need to go through Qantas Shopping again (so a repeat subscription wouldn’t work).
Nice detailed information, thank you for this.
Nice article!!! Looking for more interesting articles from you.
Have had issues with purchasing through Online mall in the past. The confirmation email “Thanks for shopping through the Online Mall” is hit and miss. Got one for a purchase on eBay, not for Kogan. Same day, same computer. Be prepared to contact Qantas FF to chase points.
sorry for the question on an old article, but what happens if you logon to the store from your phone and then when going into ebay it opens the app? Will points still be recognised?
Also thanks for the advice, saved over $150 on a laptop with Cashrewards.
Just wondering…what happens when you return items purchased through Online Mall (or Virgin e-store, etc)? Do they monitor this at all and take the points off your balance?
Seems like you can easily purchase a whole pile of stuff from say theiconic and just return for free for a points boost?
Yes, most retailers will approve points to credit to your account only after their refund policy has expired, which is why the waiting period for online mall purchases to credit is usually quite long.
I double checked and you are right, it was an AU Ssite compared to an US site.
Great!
I went through online mall to see how much it would be for apple ipad 2.
Apple direct $629.00
Qantas link to Apple $879.00
Seems like there is a price hike so customer pays for extra pounts.
I hope other consumers are shopping around before falling for the points promo offers!!
That hasn’t been my experience with any of the online malls, and especially Apple who I am pretty certain don’t price discriminate based on where you’re coming from. Possible that you were looking at a different spec iPad or maybe US vs AU site?
The great thing about eBay is that it has teamed up with some major retailers as well like Good Guys, Target etc. We needed to buy a new washing machine and instead of buying it direct at Good Guys I went through the online mall and bought it at the eBay Good Guys store. A nice points pick up
The Qantas Mall site says eBay is 1 point per $
It’s been this way for a while.
Look like DJ Online Store allow you to use eGift Card purchased from Qantas Cash program to purchase in online store now . just put through an order and all when through . Buying a Physical Gift for friends and the catch is Delivery Fee $5 as they don’t allow click and collect
I am having the same issue. I have only received the 5 points per $ from my David Jones purchase. Last year I received 5/$ after the 30 days (6th of January) and the the other 5/$ 2 days later (8th of January). This year the bonus points are yet to credit.
Has anyone received the bonus points as yet (from David Jones or any other retailer)?
I am still waiting on my points from DJ’s too from late November. I will be waiting until end of Jan and then following up. I have heard others are starting to trickle through.
I am the same, only got standard points, wondering if double points will be credited later
Hi
I have received the standard points for my David Jones purchases for the Christmas promotion. Does anyone know if the bonus points should apply at the same time as the standard points, or do they arrive in my Qantas account later?
Cheers
I assume you mean that you received the Online Mall points from DJ’s into your account, and not from a card like the DJ’s Amex first? If just the online mall, the bonus points would normally credit at the same time – I would follow up with Qantas and try and push for this to be adjusted.
All resolved now:)
Thanks social media….
My apologies if there was a double up with my mails re David Jones,, but my 1st post was not showing on the page presented to me when I checked.

Disappointing! $500 price rise on Qantas Mall/David Jones, double point promotion item.
Seems that this promotion is payed for by the customer, through the nose. A $500 overnight increase, on the day the promo starts, for a TV I was going to buy, from $2974 to $3499, overnight.
Some bonus DJ.

Talk about scalping…
A $500 price rise on Qantas Mall/David Jones, double point promotion item
that I was going to buy, was $2974 yesterday. Today, which happens to be the start of the promotion, it’s $3499!
Seems that this promotion is payed for by the customer, through the nose.
Some Bonus promotion David Jones!

Does the online mall for David Jones include e gift cards?
Do you mean include them as a payment option?
I would also like to know this – can I buy online at David Jones via the Qantas Mall, and use e-gift cards?
I’d like to stack 5.5ppd via buying e-gift cards with Qantas Cash Card, on top of the current 10ppd at David Jones for 15.5ppd.
Any insight would be much appreciated! I don’t wanna get stuck with an e-gift card I can’t use!
Additionally, if the e-gift card is $250, and I want to buy something for $270, can I simply pay the extra $20 with a CC?
From the Gift Cards page – “^ David Jones eGift Cards must be printed to redeem in store or downloaded into Apple Passbook. Please click here for David Jones Gift Card terms of use.” Unfortunately they are in store only.
Just remembered as well that Ad-Blockers can really mess up these referral programs, so best to disable them before being referred out etc. The AA mall kindly pops up a notification message to warn you about this if it detects anything funny in the background, but I haven’t seen that sort of message at any other online mall (correct me if wrong). Could be a trap for new players.
I’ve went to the website and found out that there should be 4pts/ AUD at the Apple online store.
Yes, that’s the case under this bonus promo until Oct 11th, but usually 2 points per $.
Hey Keith, would you be able to make the table of retailers above sortable? Was interested in seeing which stores give the most points-per-dollar! 🙂
Table should now be sortable!
