For most Australian travellers, Singapore needs no introduction – with favourites like chilli crab, satay and Tiger beer drawing holidaymakers to the Lion City. But for entrepreneurs, Singapore also means business: and the American Express Qantas Business Rewards Card can take you there.

With a sizeable sign-up bonus for eligible new customers and generous ongoing earn rates as you continue to spend, trips to Singapore get even easier, thanks to the power of Qantas Points and American Express. Here’s how.

Fast-track your first Singapore jaunt with the Amex Qantas Business Rewards Card

For eligible new American Express Qantas Business Rewards Card Members, slinging up to Singapore in style is super simple.

Start by meeting the requirements of the card’s generous sign-up offer. Check our guide here for the latest offer.

For the purpose of this article, we’re focusing on 120,000 Qantas Points.1 Yes, a chunky serve of points in return for meeting an offer’s minimum spend requirement – plus the Card’s $450 annual fee, of course.

In fact, on most eligible purchases, Card Members also receive up to 1.25 Qantas Points per $1 of everyday business spend. Spending $3,000 on everyday business purchases would earn up to 3,750 Qantas Points, for example.

When combined with a 120,000-point sign-up bonus, here’s what 123,750 Qantas Points could get you:

  • One return trip from Perth to Singapore, flying Business in both directions. This costs 114,000 Qantas Points, plus applicable taxes, fees and charges.
Alternatively, you could take one return trip to Singapore from Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane. From these cities and with 123,750 Qantas Points to spend, you could fly Business in one direction (68,400 Qantas Points), and Economy the other way (25,200 Qantas Points). This leaves you with over 30,000 Qantas Points to spend on future travels, too. Again, taxes, fees and charges are payable.
  • Two return trips from Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane to Singapore in Economy. That’s 50,400 Qantas Points per return journey – 100,800 Qantas Points for three round trips – plus applicable taxes, fees and charges.
  • Three return trips from Perth to Singapore in Economy. These flights cost 20,300 Qantas Points each way, or 121,800 Qantas Points for four return journeys. As always, taxes, fees and charges are payable when booking.

Whether you use that initial serve of Qantas Points for some Business luxury to Singapore, or bring a second (or third) member of your team along for the journey, it’s up to you!

Classic Flight Rewards are available on Qantas, Jetstar and partner airlines. Availability is limited.

Earning Qantas Points via the Amex Qantas Business Rewards Card

A six-figure sign-up bonus is great to begin with, but the points don’t stop there. As you continue to spend on the American Express Qantas Business Rewards Card, your business can earn uncapped Qantas Points.2

Whether you spend a little or a lot each month, every time you pay with the Card, it brings you even closer to that next trip. Here’s what your business can earn:

  • 2 Qantas Points per dollar spent when booking Qantas flights directly with Qantas. This also applies to purchases with Qantas Holidays, Qantas Frequent Flyer and Qantas Club.
  • 1.25 Qantas Points per dollar spent on all other everyday business spend, except:
  • 0.5 Qantas Points per dollar spent on utilities, insurances and with government bodies like the ATO and Australia Post.

You can also book eligible flights on your American Express Qantas Business Rewards Card and the points your business earns from flying will be tripled – locking in greater savings and rewards!

After a total of 500,000 Qantas Points is earned in a calendar year, the everyday business earn rate will change from 1.25 to 0.75 Qantas Points per $1 spent.* For Card Members who applied for the Card between 1 July 2023 – 9 January 2024, this change will come into effect from 10 July 2024.

Using those Qantas Points to get back to Singapore, again and again

It’s so easy to earn points by using the American Express Qantas Business Rewards Card.

Got the taste of Qantas Business from the initial sign-up bonus? Spending just $109,440 per annum on ‘everyday business spend’ can deliver enough points to take that trip every single year. At up to 1.25 Qantas Points earned per $1 spent, that’s the 136,800 Qantas Points you need for that Business trip from Australia’s major east coast cities.

That’s a monthly average of just $9,120 spent on everyday business purchases. If you’re based in Perth, a lesser annual spend of $91,200 could achieve the same. That’s an average spend of only $7,600 per month.

With uncapped points earning potential, the more you spend, the greater rewards your business can earn. You can then decide to travel up the pointy end, or to book Premium Economy or Economy to save the business some real cash.

Benefits for your domestic travels, too

There’s another treat in store for American Express Qantas Business Rewards Card Members.

Every single year, receive two complimentary invitations to domestic Qantas Club lounges.3 Even when flights to Singapore are the larger goal, it’s great to enjoy the benefits of Card Membership before two domestic Qantas flights of your choosing.

These passes are transferable, too. If you’re already covered for Qantas lounge access yourself, why not gift them to a hard-working staff member as a treat?

Wherever you’re headed, the American Express Qantas Business Rewards Card can help you get there. Find out more.
