Flybuys and Velocity transfer bonus is back

Everything you need to know about the latest Flybuys promotions and competitions.

Introduction to the Flybuys program

Flybuys is Australia’s most extensive loyalty program with many partners. These partners sometimes have strong promotions that will nab you tens of thousands of Flybuys points, which could be enough to score serious rewards, ranging from money off your shop to reward flights with Virgin Australia and its partners.

Transfer Bonus Offer: Up to 1,000 bonus points

Offer Ends: 31 August 2026

Velocity and Flybuys are continuing with another month of transfer bonuses in August! If you perform your first Manual Transfer during this period, you’ll earn a bonus 250 Flybuys + 250 Velocity Points, in addition to the points you transfer (minimum 1,000 Flybuys points to 500 Velocity).

If you’ve never done an Auto Transfer before, your first-ever Auto Transfer will earn a bonus 500 Flybuys + 500 Velocity Points. But we recommend holding off for a better offer, if that’s you. Instead, just do a manual transfer this month and wait for a bigger Auto Transfer bonus.

How it works:

  1. Log in to your Flybuys account
  2. Ensure your Flybuys and Velocity accounts are linked.
  3. Enter the amount of Flybuys points you would like to redeem for Velocity Points. Every 1,000 Flybuys points = 500 Velocity Points
  4. Allow up to 48 hours for Velocity Points to be credited to your linked Velocity account and for your Flybuys points balance to be updated

Summing up

Big Flybuys points offers can be found with its various partners – especially the bigger companies that want you to sign-up for an ongoing service.

Be sure to check the promotion terms and conditions carefully and shop around with other providers. It mightn’t always work in your favour to earn more Flybuys points on a product that’s overpriced compared to its competitors.

But if the deal fits your needs, then it could give your Flybuys balance an extra boost, which will help you reach those coveted travel goals sooner.

  1. Yep regularly targeted, activate them every time, complete and points turn up no probs. Current offer this month is $140 spend for 4 weeks to earn 10k points tho, and $190 per week for the 20k.

Will take advice of others and sign up my son for Flybuys, use his account to shop for a bit until my offers come down.

Bravo clever point hunters, keep playing the game well 😉

  2. The 10,000 FlyBuys for minimum spend has been around the $200-220 mark for me for quite a few years now. Was around the $100-150 for a few years prior to that.

Clearly their cost of acquisition for me is pretty high, as I ride their offers for all they’re worth!

  3. “One of Flybuys’ most popular offers runs a few times a year.”

For lots of us its an ongoing offer. As soon as I complete one of those offers I get another the following week. Have a look at the AFF forum and you’ll see there are others in the same boat.

I think as long as you continue to activate the offers you’ll keep on getting them.

  4. Get 3 months of free Coles Plus and Coles Plus Saver*

The below statement in your headline is a little misleading…you do need to pay $7.00 today to take up the offer.

If you’re not currently a Coles Plus member, here’s a rare chance to try out three months of the service for free.

  5. Is this Mastercard gift card Flybuys offer for in-store purchases only or can be digital gift card bought from MC online?

  6. There’s a very simple way to get around Apple’s limit of 8 gift cards per transaction: simply add the gift card balance to your Apple Account Balance. Then pay for your purchase wholly or partly using that Apple Account Balance. This means, in practice, that even if you’re getting something like a $5000 souped-up MacBook Pro, you can pay for the full amount using gift cards and pocket a total of 50,000 points.
You’d have to buy the cards over more than one sale, of course, but the added benefit is that if you want you can “mix and match” points, so you could buy some gift cards from Woolies (Qantas points) and some from Coles (Velocity points). I’ve also found that if you do the purchase via Velocity’s e-store, you’ll still receive the bonus points from the e-store as well.

  7. 10,000 points sounds too good to be true and it is. I was offered 10,000 points if I spent at least $80 in a single shop during four consecutive weeks. I did, but how many of those 10,000 points did I receive? Not a single one. It’s a scam and a breach of the Australian Consumer Law. Don’t fall for the Coles con-job.

    1. I have successfully completed 2 of these promos, 100% legit. If you fail on the $ amount, or the time limit, or purchase excluded items of which are ALL in the Ts a Cs, the it will not be paid. If you did everything correctly, it works, and you could have contacted them to ask why you did not receive your bonus points.

  8. As per other gift voucher promotions, the actual process of buying the cards in store can be quite a challenge due to stores attempting to implement anti-scamming processes. Some staff will try to limit the purchase in terms of number of cards and amount purchased. The default strategies are to visit multiple stores and / or politely ask to talk with the manager. Certain stores are more “relaxed’ than others.

Last week one staff member in a certain Coles store went mental when I attempted to buy just $250 worth of Ultimate gift cards (5 cards to max out the promo of 2,000 Flybuys / 1,000 Velocity points per $50 card). Whereas my wife went through the same process in a different store and nobody was concerned at all.

Only saying…be ready to sweet talk…or visit several stores!

  9. @ Evian – in my experience the Coles bonus points offers are targeted and dynamic – I anticipate with a little more research you will find that they are NOT periodically offered to all customers. IMO your example of the bonus points for 4 weeks of minimum spend would be triggered by buyer behaviour. To note that my wife gets different offers to me. Offers creep up in minimum spend as you meet targets. Currently, I’m on a 20,000 bonus for four weeks of $170 – a few weeks ago the weekly target was $120. The targets creep upwards. At a certain point, I just stop spending in Coles (and we use my wife’s offers) until the offers reset down to the lower targets again. This appears to be an example of a dynamic and tailored.

Incidentally Everyday Rewards is offering bonuses on a strategy of bonus points on certain items you have a history of buying in Woolworths.

By harvesting these Coles offers as a household team of two (in our case) we are amassing significant numbers of FlyBuys which we divert to Virgin (easily 10,000 to 20,000 Velocity point per month) on our regular grocery shop alone.

There’s a lot more smarts to this than your article (useful as it is) suggests…;)

    1. Hey platy, Evin is a casual writer so I’ll cover for her.

We are aware that Coles bonus offers are dynamic and can be targeted. Indeed, one of her previous articles explains ways to reduce the spending threshold, including using different member cards as you suggest.

In this guide you’re commenting on, we regularly update it with new offers. The 10,000/4 week challenge does recur periodically for everyone, hence why we keep it here. As you correctly say, it also sometimes appears targeted to individuals. But this page covers the offer when it’s available to everyone 🙂

      1. @ Evian and @ Brandon

Most excellent! Great work! Incidentally, “Point Hacks” is humming…:)

  10. Seems Coles has withdrawn the 10 000 points offer for 50 dollar spend per week for four weeks. The promotion has vanished off my account

    1. Hi Duncan, that’s correct. As indicated in the text the offer had to be activated by last Sunday 11 July. We’ll update this guide when the next one comes along.

  11. Some out of date information and….Flybuys and eBay stopped as partners ages ago.

It took only a few years to earn 500000 points, and last 2 years to earn but not quite reached 600000.

The once generous earning opportunities have and are continuously dwindling.

It is still the easiest and best value for money. Loyalty cards available to earn and when I find that one item, the current Point/$$ value will be well worth it, and FREE.

Now all Flybuys need to do is revert back to the last Webpage system, as this current version is absolute rubbish.

  12. I wouldn’t rush in to the HCF offer. It took me 6 months before I received any points after chasing HCF and Flybuys. Now waiting for Octobers points and it’s the 23rd and still nothing….hopeless
