Emirates is adding more features to its new Premium Economy seats, providing travellers with yet another step up in this better-than-Economy cabin. The airline says this is the first electrically powered Premium Economy seat, complete with an adjustable privacy divider between seats.
Debuting on future new deliveries of the Airbus A350, the cabin features a 2-3-2 configuration with only 28 seats across four rows. Each seat is roughly 20″ (50.8 cm) wide and has up to 39″ (99 cm) of seat pitch.
Emirates’ new A350 Premium Economy seat
For passengers not wanting to fork out for Business Class, the new Premium Economy could be a worthy contender. At the touch of a button, passengers can adjust their seats to lounge or meal mode.
Also included is an improved 13.3-inch 4K HDR touchscreen, as well as wireless charging and an integrated phone holder. But interestingly, there’s one crossover from the Economy cabin.
The new seats also include Emirates’ popular U-Dream headrest from its A350 Economy seats. The two wings on the headrest can be folded down to make a cradle-like sleeping surface.
Booking Emirates Premium Economy with points
If you’re looking to try out the new Airbus A350 Premium Economy seats for yourself, you’ll have to wait longer. These are only being installed on new, upcoming deliveries of the A350, so it’ll likely be years before you’ll find these seats zipping around.
For now, you can experience Emirates’ Airbus A350 Premium Economy on flights between Adelaide and Dubai. Reward seats start from 112,900 Qantas Points + A$346 in fees and taxes. The fees and taxes are reasonable, matching the Economy rate.
But the number of points needed is certainly on the higher side. Business Class on the same flight only costs 12,500 points more (although the fees and taxes are then extraordinarily higher as well).
