10,000 bonus Membership Rewards points with American Express foreign money transfer

American Express FX International Payments are offering Amex Membership Rewards cardholders 10,000 bonus points with their first international money transfer, if made by August 31st. You’ll need a bank account overseas to send money to in order to take advantage.

Their transaction and forex rates are actually quite good, so it’s worth considering the service even without the bonus points (they also offer 1 point per $25 transferred for non Platinum Charge card or Centurion cardholders). However in theory you could transfer a small amount over to your foreign account, incur the $10 fee, and receive the bonus points in 6-8 weeks. The offer expires on 31st August. I’ll be giving it a go for sure.

This is another good reminder of why Membership Rewards is a versatile scheme.
