The Ultimate Guide to Everyday Extra

From 1 July 2023, a number of key benefits will be cut.

Woolworths Everyday Extra

As the cost of living rises, more Australians are getting creative when it comes to shaving dollars off their grocery bill. Frequent Woolworths customers may already be familiar with the free Everyday Rewards program. But for a small fee, you can go beyond the program’s standard perks by signing up for Everyday Extra.

Woolworths’ new subscription program is packed with additional benefits including monthly discounts, a higher points-earning rate and more. But from 1 July 2023, Woolworths is trimming some benefits from the program. In this guide, we’ll cover everything you need to know about the Everyday Extra program.

What is Everyday Extra?

Everyday Extra is Woolworths’ paid subscription rewards program. It complements the free Everyday Rewards program by providing extra perks when you scan your card at the checkout. Although a fee is involved, the benefits of the program – which we outline below – can certainly be worth the sign-up.

How much does Everyday Extra cost?

Woolworths’ Everyday Extra program currently costs $7 per month or $70 per year. There’s no lock-in contract, so you can opt to be billed monthly and cancel at any time.

Signing up for the annual plan will be equivalent to paying $5.83 a month – or roughly the price of an overpriced cup of coffee.

At the time of writing, Everyday Extra offers a 30-day free trial so you can determine if the subscription fits your needs.

Benefits of Everyday Extra

Members enjoy additional benefits on top of the free Everyday Rewards program. Here’s what’s on offer.

  • Earn 2x Everyday Rewards points each time you shop in-store or online at Woolworths and Big W.
  • 10% off one shop a month at Woolworths, in-store only.
  • 10% off one shop a month at Big W, in-store only.
  • Member-exclusive perks like freebies and extra offers.

The ability to redeem 2,000 Everyday Rewards points for $10 off a future shop or convert this amount to 1,000 Qantas Points remains the same.

For point collectors, the Everyday Rewards and Qantas partnership is an alluring way to earn Qantas Points from your regular grocery shop, as well as through gift cards and other promotions. Everyday Rewards points convert to Qantas Points at a rate of 2:1. And with a higher points-earning rate, you can reach your points goals quicker.

If saving cash is your aim, it’s handy to know that the 10% discount stacks on top of the $10 off when you reach 2,000 Everyday Rewards Points. And for many households, the 10% discount can be enough to offset the program’s subscription fee. Unfortunately, it can only be used in-store from 1 July 2023.

Also, you can double-dip on rewards by paying for your shop using a points-earning credit card. You’ll not only earn Everyday Rewards points but also points towards a frequent flyer program or flexible rewards program.

To sign up for Everyday Extra, you need to be an existing member of the Woolworths Everyday Rewards program, which is free to join.

Summing up

An Everyday Extra subscription provides access to benefits on top of Woolworths’ Everyday Rewards program. The 10% monthly discount at Woolworths and Big W can be excellent value for many. Plus the ability to earn bonus points means that you can hit your points target sooner – whether you intend to redeem your Everyday Rewards points for discounts off your shopping or transfer them to Qantas Points.

Just keep in mind the three main changes coming into effect from 1 July 2023:

  • The annual fee increases to $70 a year.
  • Points bonus decreasing from 3x to 2x.
  • Monthly 10% off shop benefit only available in-store.

  1. I’ve never, never received a freebie with my subscription.
I’m also paying for free deliveries which I’m not all together happy with, as some inferior products are delivered such as over ripe fruit and vegetables.
The 10% discount per month is of no use for a single persons normal shop, which could be more than once a month.
Also having to claim the discount in store and not on line, We’ll!‍♀️
    I won’t be renewing.

  2. I bet that when you take the 10% off a shop, the points are calculated on the total discounted value, after the 10% discount and NOT the pre-discount value of purchases. That’s what the greedy sons of bs do when you take the monthly 10% off for your Everyday Insurance bonus.

  3. Another way to try and force you into taking a side in the supermarket duopoly of doom.
I spit on their offers and have started doing a lit of shopping elsewhere – and have been pleasantly surprised at the prices.

  4. Btw having Safeway insurance (sorry I’m old skool) also gets you a 10% off one shop every month which we find great value.

  5. FWIW our household Coles /Flyburs bonus deals on our weekly grocery shop have left Everyday Rewards out of favour

  6. Since we basically do all our large grocery shopping online, paying $59 for upwards of $400 worth of discounts across a year was a no-brainer.

All those bonus points thrown in just made it more appealing. But with the removal of online redemption and a devaluation of basically every aspect of the program, we won’t be signing up again. Was fun while it lasted.

  7. Can’t believe that Woolies have removed the ability to use the discount for online purchases. We live an hour away from our nearest Woolies, so it’s always been great to place my order online (receive the discount) and pick up my order when I’m down in the city. It saved so much time and saved some money. It has been an invaluable service and a way of saving money as well for a loyal Woolies shopper! Not Happy! Let’s hope lots of others complain to Woolies and they reinstate the discount for online shoppers!
