There’s a quiet kind of luxury that Singapore Airlines does better than almost anyone else. Forget the theatrics (or the faux burled wood trims) – this ethos is more understated. And that same philosophy now extends to the airline’s brand-new SilverKris First Class Lounge in Terminal 2, officially opening on 7 November 2025.

With a slim guestlist that includes Solitaire PPS Club members departing on Singapore Airlines or Scoot flights, as well as actual First Class passengers flying Singapore Airlines or a Star Alliance partner, join us to discover what those select few can look forward to experiencing inside.

A brighter, more spacious design

Located on Level 3 near Departure Gate E, the new lounge spans 1,050 square metres, about 11% larger than the previous space, and accommodates up to 130 guests. If you’ve ever relaxed in the old SilverKris Terminal 2 lounges, you’ll undoubtedly be glad to see that the new space is bathed in plenty of natural light.

Designed by Ong & Ong, the refreshed look builds on the airline’s established SilverKris design language but adds its own character through higher ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows and two statement chandeliers by Czech designer Michaela Mertlová. The result is a lounge that feels open, luminous and unmistakably ‘Singapore Airlines’.

An evolution of the popular Crystal Bar in Terminal 3, the new Signature Bar seats 12 and transitions from morning barista service to evening cocktail pours. Further along, the main lounge space opens up.

Different zones for different folks

The expanded footprint means there’s now more variety in seating areas, from quiet corners for work to comfortable zones for dining and relaxation. Straight ahead from the bar is the main lounge room itself, so to speak. Pairs of plush armchairs offer power outlets, wireless charging and even luggage storage space underneath the table.

Looking for something more tailored to your needs? There are spaces for…

  • Family: a children’s playroom featuring a Sony PlayStation 5 and tactile games, plus a separate nursing room with an armchair and baby-changing station.
  • Work: Towards the right, you’ll find Singapore Airlines’ popular individual productivity pods with charging points and reading lights. Around this area are also two soundproof call booths and a meeting room.
  • Relax: Head towards Singapore Airlines’ signature wingback chairs, upholstered with the airline’s batik motif, which line the windows for prime airfield views.
  • Rest: To the left of the dining room is a space with four semi-private resting pods with Poltrona Frau recliners, soft lighting and sliding doors for privacy. Pillows, blankets and eyeshades are provided.
  • Refresh: Four unisex en-suite shower rooms, each stocked with Lalique Neroli amenities and Dyson hairdryers.

Dining: Live cooking stations and expanded buffet

For many travellers, dining is the heart of the lounge experience, and Singapore Airlines is promising a major upgrade here too. Guests can enjoy SilverKris classics such as signature laksa and chwee kueh, alongside new à la carte dishes, including a Hawaiian chicken burger or a stir-fried XO carrot cake with bean sprouts.

A newly expanded self-service buffet will complement the made-to-order menu, mirroring the extensive offerings available in the flagship SilverKris Lounge in Terminal 3. Alongside many western dishes (yes, chicken nuggets remain on the menu), salads and more, you can also expect familiar local favourites like:

  • Roasted duck breast with orange hoisin glaze
  • Singapore chilli crab with egg tofu
  • Steamed dumplings
  • Ondeh ondeh cake
  • Various kuehs (traditional snacks)

The new bar area is set to be a highlight. In the mornings, guests can look forward to barista-made coffee – perfect for early departures. Later in the day, the focus shifts to premium wines, champagne, and craft cocktails.

From the French bubbles on offer, enjoy Charles Heidsieck Blanc des Millénaires 2007 Champagne or Piper Heidsieck Rare Millésime 2013. Or try one of the ‘reimagined’ cocktails, such as the Bee’s Knees, which features The Botanist 22 gin with yuzu and honey marmalade.

While many of these drinks are a Terminal 2-exclusive for at least a month, we’re told they’ll eventually be brought over to the Terminal 3 lounges eventually.

There are some shortcomings, though. Like the Terminal 3 lounges, barista service is available only from 6am to 10am, while cocktail service runs from 5:30pm to 1am. If you’re here during the middle of the day, your beverage options will be much more limited.

A refreshed chapter for Terminal 2

The opening of the SilverKris First Class Lounge marks the first significant milestone of Singapore Airlines’ lounge transformation project in Terminal 2. It’s not a revolutionary redesign, but Singapore Airlines isn’t aiming for that either. Their focus is consistency across both terminals.

With the First Class lounge officially up and running from 5pm on Friday 7 November 2025, attention now turns to the aging SilverKris Business Class and KrisFlyer Gold lounges nearby. These will go under the knife progressively in 2026, with all works expected to wrap up by early 2027.

If you want to try it for yourself, the cheapest way is to redeem 33,000 KrisFlyer miles for a one-way First Class award seat from Singapore to Jakarta. That ticket even unlocks The Private Room over in Terminal 3, but the new SilverKris First Class Lounge in Terminal 2 awaits if you want to relax closer to the boarding gate.

What’s next for the Singapore Airlines lounge revamp project? I pose this question to Timothy Chua, Singapore Airlines’ Vice President of Lounge Development and Inflight Operations – noting that the Melbourne SilverKris Lounge is now the ‘ugly duckling’ of the network.

“Watch this space,” he teases.
