For a short window, hiring cars with Avis is now even more rewarding for Qantas Frequent Flyer members. With 50% more points on the table, adventures on the ground can pave the way for great journeys in the air!

Those keeping an eagle eye on the bottom line will also welcome fresh cash savings at Hertz. But you won’t need to compromise on appearance, with a free car category upgrade thrown in atop your savings.

Here are the latest deals, promotions and offers on car hire with Qantas.

Offer 1: earn a boosted six Qantas Points per $1 on car hire with Avis

Expiry: Book by 31 January 2022 for car rentals throughout the 2022 calendar year.

Ordinarily, Qantas Frequent Flyer members can earn a solid four Qantas Points per $1 spent with Avis. That’s an earning rate not to be sniffed at! But for those booking car hire before the end of January, you can boost those rewards even further.

Just make a car hire reservation with Avis through the Qantas website for dates throughout 2022. On these bookings, you’ll take home an increased six Qantas Points per $1 spent instead.

That’s in addition to any Qantas Business Rewards points a business could earn when booking Avis car hire for staff.

For the full details and to book, head to the Qantas website.

Offer 2: save 10% on Hertz and get a free upgrade

Expiry: Available on rentals commencing by 30 March 2022.

Although Hertz is a close Velocity Frequent Flyer partner, it’s still possible to book Hertz through Qantas. You can’t earn Qantas Points, although other benefits can sometimes pop up.

Case in point: make a booking with Hertz through the Qantas website right now and save 10% off time and kilometre charges. You’ll also get a free vehicle class upgrade.

Oh, and as you can’t earn Qantas Points, there’s nothing stopping you from giving Hertz another frequent flyer number. For instance, your Velocity Frequent Flyer number!

Earn Qantas Points on car hire every day

Beyond Qantas’ seasonal promotions, hiring cars can be a great way to earn Qantas Points.

Generally, you’ll earn four Qantas Points per $1 spent with Avis and Budget. Just note, you won’t pocket extra Qantas Points by holding Qantas status – the earning rates are the same for members of all tiers.

Qantas Business Rewards members can earn points too, in addition to those earned by the traveller.

This sees businesses taking home their own serve of four Qantas Points per $1 spent with the same companies. It’s a particularly lucrative deal for sole traders who are both the traveller and the business owner. That’s because they could be earning eight Qantas Points per dollar spent on car hire, when those rewards are combined!

Summing up

Whether you’re hiring a car in another city or going for a road trip from your home town, earning Qantas Points on those adventures can prove very rewarding.

As with any booking, make sure your Qantas Frequent Flyer number is attached, and that your points arrive. If they haven’t landed in your Qantas Frequent Flyer account within a few weeks, it’s worth a follow-up for those much-deserved rewards!
