Velocity Frequent Flyer members are now able to book reward seats on Virgin Australia’s upcoming long-haul flights to Doha, operated by partner Qatar Airways.

Seats on the new routes start from 89,500 Velocity Points + fees and taxes in Business Class, where passengers can expect comfort and space with Qatar Airways’ famed Qsuites. Economy Rewards start from 42,000 Velocity Points + fees and taxes, one-way. To celebrate the launch, Virgin Australia is tripling the number of reward seats on flights from June to September 2025.

Velocity Frequent Flyer CEO Nick Rohrlach says that ‘international travel is more accessible than ever’.

“Whether it’s a bucket-list trip to Europe or a dream holiday in the Middle East, there’s never been a better time to be a Velocity Frequent Flyer. We know this is a big investment Virgin Australia is making to support its new flights for the European Summer. We also know this will drive greater member engagement with our program and for our partners which is the key to continued growth and success of our Velocity program.”

Virgin Australia Business Class passengers will enjoy Qsuites and Starlink internet access.

New reward seat availability in all cabins

At the time of launch, there are up to four Business Class rewards and at least nine Economy rewards on many Virgin Australia long-haul flights. Seats are currently bookable on:

  • Perth to Doha (from 26 June): 89,500 pts + fees and taxes in Business Class (42,000 pts in Economy)
  • Brisbane to Doha (from 19 June): 119,500 pts + fees and taxes in Business Class (56,000 pts in Economy)
  • Sydney to Doha (from 12 June): 119,500 pts + fees and taxes in Business Class (56,000 pts in Economy)
Examples of new reward seats to Doha (top) and onwards to London (bottom).

Connections to/from Europe and other Qatar Airways destinations are possible based on existing reward seat availability. The maximum you’ll pay for a one-way Business Class journey is capped at 158,500 Velocity Points + fees and taxes. This is the same amount whether you’re flying Sydney-Doha-London or Sydney-Doha-New York (a much longer journey).

The reward seat fees and taxes include a carrier charge of US$60 per flight in Economy or US$230 per flight in Business Class. Expect to pay around $1,600 in fees and taxes for a return Business Class reward to Europe.
