Is this the last time US Airways will offer the 100% bonus on miles purchases?

Gary Leff over at View from the Wing is pretty connected, and he’s had word that the US Airways big bonuses for miles purchases could be on the way out. This may tip your hand to consider buying US Airways miles in the current promotion which ends on September 30th (US time). From Gary:

I’m told that this is likely the last go of a 100% bonus on US Airways miles at current pricing. This isn’t a public or official pronouncement, but something I’ve been told — that as part of integrating the Dividend Miles and AAdvantage programs, at a latest case come November the bonus and pricing structure for US Airways miles will look more like the old American approach. The American Airlines bonuses generally run no higher than 40%, which is clearly nowhere near the 100% that’s frequently offered by US.

You can buy US Airways miles here, or read the guide on how to take advantage.

  1. I have just signed up to US Airlines Dividend Miles program and tried to buy some points but when I try and log in with my Number a message says “unable to buy with this Dividend Number”. The number appears OK as I can log in to the US Airlines DM site.
    Any ideas? Many thanks.

    1. Yes, if there’s points seat availability for the routes / dates you want to fly. I just booked for August 2015.

  2. It appears the offer has been extended until the 12th October.

Considering a SYD-NRT redemption at 90,000 USDM. Weighing this up against 50,000 JMB miles via (2x 20,000 + 5000) SPG transfers. The AUD/USD rate seems like it will only get weaker too. Might want to lock it in sooner rather than later.
