Small Luxury Hotels of the World is a consortium of more than 500 luxury boutique hotels in nearly 100 countries.
In this guide, we explore the chain’s key locations, loyalty program, how to receive elite benefits with no status, current offers, and how to book.
The SLH brand seems to be targeted to a younger travel audience who are looking for unique and quirky properties.
Hotel locations
The biggest concentration of hotels is in Europe, followed by Asia, The Caribbean and The Americas.

There are six properties in Australia, with two in Western Australia and New South Wales, and one each in South Australia and Victoria.
New Zealand also has six properties, with five on the South Island, and one in the North.
When researching hotels, do note that the SLH website deletes negative reviews, so be sure to TripAdvisor for a more honest spread of reviews from previous guests.
Membership tiers and benefits
Small Luxury Hotels’ free loyalty program Invited has three membership tiers:
- Intrigued (automatic upon sign-up): early check-in and check-out subject to availability, complimentary wifi, member-exclusive rates
- Inspired (after 4 nights): as above, plus room upgrade, daily continental breakfast and birthday gift
- Indulged (after 13 nights): as above, plus access to invite-only events and a reward night voucher
Inspired and Indulged status lasts for one year.
How to get Inspired benefits by booking with World of Hyatt
Hyatt and SLH have teamed up to offer World of Hyatt members the opportunity to earn and redeem points and receive on-property benefits at participating SLH hotels.
The partnership extends to around 350 SLH properties worldwide, including eight in Australia and New Zealand.
All World of Hyatt members receive benefits including complimentary continental breakfast, complimentary Wi-Fi, early check-in (based on availability at check-in), late check out (based on availability at check-in), and a one-category room upgrade (based on availability at check-in).
These benefits align with those received with Inspired status through SLH’s own membership program.
This is a great way to get some instant benefits at one of their member hotels, especially if you were already planning to make a booking.
You’ll also earn 5 World of Hyatt points per eligible $1 USD spent. You could redeem these points towards future stays, or transfer to one of their frequent flyer program partners, including Qantas.
To be eligible for these benefits on your next stay:
- Join World of Hyatt
- Make a booking via this page, ensuring that you’re logged in
- Enjoy your stay!
SLH used to offer instant status to American Express and Mastercard cardholders but this is no longer available.
American Express Fine Hotels & Resorts
Access to American Express Fine Hotels & Resorts (FHR) is one of the key benefits of holding a Platinum Charge or Centurion card.
These cardholders have the opportunity to receive benefits like $100 room credits, spa treatments and upgrades at over 1,800 luxury hotels worldwide.
You can see the full list here.
Offers
You can view current promotions simply by clicking on ‘Offers’ on the main menu of SLH’s home page.
For example, at time of writing, you’ll get one complimentary night for stays of three/four nights or more at 156 participating properties.
How to book

- online
- by calling 1800 219 010 in Australia or 0800 464 013 in New Zealand (24/7)

Is this still accurate? I’m not finding this to be true.
“All World of Hyatt members receive benefits including complimentary continental breakfast, complimentary Wi-Fi, early check-in (based on availability at check-in), late check out (based on availability at check-in), and a one-category room upgrade (based on availability at check-in).”

Pardon me. Altered!
Hi there. The article says “if you hold one of the above cards”, however, I don’t see the card types listed. Also when I click on the American Express link, the landing page doesn’t specify which American Express cards are eligible. Any ideas? Thanks!
It is all Mastercard and Amex cards that are eligible.
FYI, the “Join as an Inspired Member” link from the SLH site http://www.slh.com/partners/americanexpress/ gave errors on all 3 types of signin, Email, Facebook and Google.
Email error: Server Error in ‘/’ Application. Runtime Error Description: An exception occurred while processing your request. Additionally, another exception occurred while executing the custom error page for the first exception. The request has been terminated.
Facebook and Google: Hang in there! This page may be keeping you out…
Not all that welcoming.
Tried signing up today. Seems to be an issue at the SLH website.
“Runtime Error
Description: An exception occurred while processing your request. Additionally, another exception occurred while executing the custom error page for the first exception. The request has been terminated.”
If their errors are erroring.
Try signing up through the Amex link but the link is not working?
Diners Club link gives you 12 months membership also
I was going to take a chance and go for the Diners Club code but in the fine print it states “Prepayment/Deposit with your Diners Club card is required at time of booking”
Will use the AMEX code just in case, thank you for the article Matt
Thanks for letting me know about the requirements of using the Diners Club 3-for-2 code, Dan. I must have overlooked that. I have removed the code from the guide.
Still looks like getting two years of status through the Diners Club link is still possible even without a Diners Club card, though.
Unfortunately the Daylesford property closed, much to our dismay since we had booked for March. Took advantage of the free upgrade at both ‘The Louise’ (now with Mr and Mrs Smith) and Injidup retreat. SLH has proven to be good value for us
