Virgin Australia is injecting more travel thrills into the Velocity Frequent Flyer ecosystem by launching a new partnership with Big Red Group and its local travel platform, Experience Oz. Velocity members can now earn and use points at Experience Oz, and there are plenty of offers to get the party started.

First up is a triple-points deal, which will see members pocketing a massive nine Velocity Points per dollar spent. Plus, all bookings made in the first two weeks will go into the draw to win two Virgin Australia domestic return flights and a $1,000 Experience Oz voucher. Both offers wrap up at 11:50 pm AEST, 27 November 2023.

Triple Velocity Points (nine points per dollar) is available on bookings made from before 11:59 pm AEST, 27 November 2023, for travel by 31 May 2024 and where Velocity Points are not used as a form of payment. See the website for full T&Cs.

Virgin Australia COO, David Emerson, looks forward to giving Velocity members ‘more value and choice’.

We are excited to be partnering with Experience Oz, marking a wonderful addition to the Virgin Australia family – one that will make the next family holiday more possible for millions of Australians. From today, the partnership will give our 11.5 million Velocity members thousands of additional ways to earn and redeem Points at a time when value and getting more from your dollar has never been so important.

Earning and using points with Experience Oz

The ongoing partnership will enable Velocity members to earn a standard three Velocity Points per dollar spent. Occasional promotions will see that increase, such as the launch triple-points offer.

Buying your attraction tickets via Experience Oz is a no-brainer if the prices are the same (or cheaper) than through other channels, as you’ll also enjoy bonus Velocity Points.

Want to use Velocity Points instead? The current redemption rate is a standard 0.6 cents per point of value. Our usual advice at Point Hacks is to save your Velocity Points for reward flights and upgrades, as you can often get more than 2.0 cents per point of value. But if you have lots of Velocity Points in your account, you now have a new way to use them through Experience Oz.
