Luxury Escapes offers status challenge for Qantas frequent flyers

Stay five nights to unlock more benefits with Luxury Escapes.

Luxury Escapes has its sights set on members of its former partner, with a new status challenge offering Qantas Frequent Flyer members a shortcut to status in the Société loyalty program.

For a limited time, Qantas members with Silver status or above can use their existing airline status to qualify for a Société status challenge, although there’s a condition: you’ll need to complete five nights with Luxury Escapes within three months.

It’s worth noting that while Luxury Escapes is presently partnered with Virgin Australia, there are no status shortcuts for Velocity members at the moment.

How does the Luxury Escapes status challenge work?

Your Qantas status determines the Société tier you’ll be matched to:

GoldSociété Gold
PlatinumSociété Gold
Platinum OneSociété Gold

To receive the status bump, you’ll need to apply by the end of August 2026, book a total of five nights through Luxury Escapes, and complete those stays within three months of applying. The five nights don’t have to be consecutive, giving you some flexibility to spread them across multiple bookings. You can also complete the nights across hotels, tours, and cruises.

At the moment, there’s no match for Société Platinum status.

What do you get with Société status?

Société status can provide additional benefits when booking and travelling with Luxury Escapes. For example, some key perks of Société Gold status include:

  • Two free room/package upgrades (select Flash deals)
  • Two free airport chauffeur services (select holiday packages)
  • Two airport lounge passes (select holiday bookings)
  • 5GB free international eSIM per trip – provided by Hubby

Is the challenge worth doing?

If you were planning a trip with Luxury Escapes already and have eligible Qantas status, it’s worth applying. It doesn’t cost you anything extra, and it won’t affect your Qantas membership.

The biggest hurdle is the requirement to complete five nights within three months. If you’re already planning a Luxury Escapes stays, the challenge could effectively provide a shortcut to Société status without significantly changing your travel plans.

However, it’s harder to justify if you’d need to make five nights of bookings purely to obtain the status. The Qantas-to-Société match is also somewhat limited at the top end. Even Qantas Platinum and Platinum One members only receive Société Gold under the current offer.

Luxury Escapes co-founder and CEO Adam Schwab says the company wants to recognise loyalty travellers have built elsewhere.

“For these travellers, it’s the best of both worlds. They can enjoy the benefits they’ve earned with Qantas before and during their flight, then unlock additional Société benefits when they touch down at their destination,” he said.

Luxury Escapes says there are plans to expand status matching to additional loyalty programs in the coming months. That could make Société status more interesting for travellers who hold status across multiple airlines and hotel programs.
