2014 American Express Membership Rewards points for $400+ travel bookings until 27th March 2014

American Express Travel are a useful option to have in your back pocket for Amex Membership Rewards cardholders looking to make hotel, car and ‘experience’ bookings. They are less useful for flights, which don’t usual earn points (bonus or otherwise). A 2014 point bonus might shift your business their way.

They usually offer 1 Membership Reward point per $ spent, and on top of that for any bookings over $400, another 2014 points are on offer for a ‘perfect start to 2014’. So you’ll be netting 2,414 Membership Rewards points for a $400 booking, which I’d value at around $40 – so around a 10% discount.

Worth considering if you were planning a booking that could be shifted over to Amex Travel, but not one to change your plans for.
