Is there anyway to still earn Velocity status points from Air NZ flights after the code share end date?

We are four platinum members of Velocity Frequent Flyer who have recently booked with Air New Zealand to fly to South America. We were unable to book through Virgin so opted for Air New Zealand due to their alliance. Now that there is no code sharing between the two airlines what can we do to not waste the status points that we will be receiving from the flights? So far we have been unable to get an answer from Virgin regarding status points. Does Point Hacks have any information on this.

As far as I’m aware the status will be lost, but you could apply a krisflyer number as they are star alliance, and then convert the points to velocity through transfer? Status can’t go between programs but the points can.
