Need 75 extra status points to renew Gold Status with Virgin. Any suggestions?

Hi everyone

I’m 120 points off renewing my Virgin Gold Status by 16 January 2017. I have the following virgin flights booked between now and this date:
1x Brisbane to Adelaide flight (one way only)
1x Return Brisbane to Sydney
1x Sydney to Brisbane (one way only)

These flights take me to 75 points short.

Does anyone have any suggestions of how I could reach this in minimal time and cost. I was thinking a flight from Brisbane via Melbourne to Queensland and return that same way but it was very expensive.

I would love any advise. Thank you!

Use your flybuys card when you shop at Coles, Coles Online, Liquorland or First Choice Liquor and earn 1 Status Credit for every $100 spent, up to 10 per month.^

Velocity Status Credits help you to reach or maintain a higher level of Velocity membership giving you access to the best of Virgin Australia’s premium products and services.~

The higher your membership level, the greater benefits you will receive such as Lounge access, Priority Check-in and additional baggage allowance.

You will be able to link one member of your flybuys household to a nominated Velocity membership and this linked person will be the recipient of the Status Credits.

Given it’s Christmas coming up you should be able to knock off 40 points at Coles/FCL/Liquorland before the end of December.

That leaves 35 points.

Any chance of upgrading your existing flights?   Or perhaps an “insurable event” might prevent you from making your original flights and you have to pay for a more expensive fare at the last minute?   Some risks there though.

I was looking at this myself (for a similar number of points) and I came up with a return MEL-Launcestion for $250 and 30 status credits.  BUT that was an Elevate fare post the 30 Jan change.  Neither really helps you though.  That said, there’s bound to be a “Status Run” thread across at AFF…  http://www.australianfrequentflyer.com.au/community/forum.php  I seem to remember a Business flight between Tassie and Canberra involved but can’t find it now.

Good luck!
