Where to credit Air NZ flights?

My wife has been booked on Air New Zealand J class ADL-AKL-LAX for business at the end of Feb. She has added her Velocity membership to the booking but while browsing the Velocity site checking earn rates I discovered this…

From 1 November 2017 travel on Air New Zealand Trans Pacific flights to and from the Americas and flights to and from Asia will be ineligible for Points earn. View destinations ineligible for Points earn.

When viewing the destinations it seems LAX is one of them.

Trans Pacific refers to the following Air New Zealand destinations:

Honolulu, United States of America (HNL)
Los Angeles, United States of America (LAX)
San Francisco, United States of America (SFO)
Houston, United States of America (IAH)
Vancouver, Canada (YVR)
Buenos Aires, Argentina (EZE)
London Heathrow (LHR) via Los Angeles (LAX)

We have no interest in the Air New Zealand Airpoints program so we were wondering if anyone has successfully added their KrisFlyer number to their Air New Zealand booking and receieved points and/or status credits? Or if anyone has a better suggestion. I’ve never tried it but I gather you can’t add your Velocity # to the Trans-Tasman route and an alternative program # to the Trans-Pacific?

Hi filthyron,

Since you are flying business and have access to the lounge. One trick I heard of but not personally tried is: you could check in using one FF acct and change it at the lounge.

I.e. you could put KF details on your booking and then if you want the flights to be credited to another FF acct instead, you could ask the lounge agent to change the FF acct to a partner airline FFP.
