Japan is tricky for velocity member, until the recent addition of Hong Kong airlines, SIA was the only option. I travel to Sapporo 2-3 times throughout Dec-March each year one usually one of on business, Singapore Airlines don’t seem to be doing a seasonal Singapore>Sapporo route, only via Tokyo which makes for 3 stops. With that quantity of travel, should I be looking at something outside the VA partnerships? Perhaps a star alliance member status match and travel with ANA or Thai? otherwise I might try the Hong Kong airlines option, VA partner however 12-17 hrs on the ground in Hong Kong between the virgin leg Melbourne>Hong Kong and the Hong Kong airlines leg Hong Kong>Sapporo, Thoughts?
