How are infant fare priced for Qatar/AA award booking?

Hi all!
I need some urgent advice. I have an AA award booking in June flying one-way with Qatar Business Class, dep Barcelona to Adelaide, then Qantas Adelaide to Melbourne. I have three business class award seats and yesterday rang AA to ticket my infant. I was aware the infant fare would be 10% of a full Business class seat and at the time of booking had got an estimate from Qatar of the fare. It would be about $600-700 AUD. When I rang AA, the price they came back with was $1500 AUD and they say this is 10% of a business class fare and the pricing they get from Qatar. I rang Qatar again and asked for a quote and they gave me a quote of $656. The short Qantas leg should only work out to be about $90 I think. How can the pricing be SO different?! Am I missing something? I have sat on the phone to AA for over an hour, spoken to supervisors etc and all they can say is that a full class fare would be about $15,000 aud. However, according to Qatar it would only be half of that. Do I try and take this further or suck it up and pay?!

Hi,

Unfortunately, I believe you have to ticket the infant fare via AA because the adult tickets were redeemed using AA.
