I have held Velocity gold for two years. I would like to aim for Platinum at some point. Is there another airline outside of Hawaiin airlines that earns status credits for this route? I am located in Melbourne. Thanks in advance.

Nope. Not unless you want to go the long way via LA.

  • Thank you for your response. May I please ask what partner airline I’d take, as I noticed that most of them do not allow status credits to the Pacific or Americas?
It’s so confusing and difficult to decipher.

  • If you’re flying from Melbourne you can take Virgin Australia to Los Angeles, then transfer onto Delta to fly to Honolulu.
Or you could fly Virgin Australia to Sydney, transfer onto Delta to fly to Los Angeles, and continue on Delta onto Honolulu.

All partner airlines that fly to the USA award status credit on flights to the Pacific or Americas except for Air New Zealand, which only allows Trans Tasman, and that will stop October 28th anyway.

So your options are: (VA = Virgin Australia, NZ = Air New Zealand, HA = Hawaiian Airlines, VS = Virgin Atlantic)

    VA MEL>SYD/BNE then HA SYD/BNE > HNL
    VA MEL>LAX>HNL
    VA MEL>SYD then DL SYD>LAX>HNL
    VA/NZ MEL>AKL then HA AKL>HNL
or a rather elaborate long way round:
VA MEL>HKG then VS HKG>LHR>USA(numerous) then DL USA>HNL
