Having issues redeeming seats using Alaska miles from Sydney to Los Angeles - any advice or assistance?

Hey guys…wondering if you can help me. My husband and I each purchased Alaska Air miles while they had a bonus deal a few months ago. We’re trying to book either one way business or first class fares with miles to LAX mid next year with no luck. The schedule online says they’re available but when it comes to checkout There is always an error. Tried booking them through their customer service line as well with no luck. Apparently fares/itinerary from Sydney haven’t been updated with Qantas. Have you had This problem before? Shelled out almost $2k US for miles but I can’t go anywhere!

What can I do?

I have no experience with this but the point hacks articles on alaska airlines seem to recommend calling up to book once you have found available flights. you mention you have tried booking through their customer service line with no luck - what does that mean, what did the booking agent say - no you cannot book that, or their is no availability?

Thanks Tristan, their systems were showing availability, however when we tried to book there would be a last minute error. They attributed this to the carrier not updating the flight itinerary and hence why we were unable to book. The flights may very well be unavailable, however after trying at least 30 different dates and combinations/carriers… it looks futile!

Probably phantom availability, happens a fair bit with Award seat inventory.

QF to the US on AS Miles is nigh impossible, best bet might be to have a look through HKG with CX.
