Australia’s largest airline is running a Premium Companion Sale for travel for most of the rest of the year to places like the US, Tokyo, Hong Kong and Santiago.

The fare requires two or more adults to travel together on all flights (or children paying adult rates).

These sale fares are only available until 20 March.

Depart: Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane (or other airports for a surcharge)

Arrive: many destinations within the Qantas network, including New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Vancouver, London, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Singapore and Santiago

Dates: from March 31 until December 12 for the first international sector (blackout dates of October 8 to November 12)

Cabin: Premium Economy, Business and First Class (although the sales in First are not so attractive)

Whilst the prices quoted below are for per person return travel from Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane, you can pay extra to connect from smaller airports like Perth, Adelaide and Canberra and sometimes the surcharge is not too large.

Crediting your points: Depending on where your existing points balances lie, you may choose to credit these flights to Qantas Frequent Flyer, Cathay Pacific Asia Miles, British Airways Executive Club, American Airlines AAdvantage or Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan.

For example, a return Business Class ticket from Sydney to New York will net each person 37,200 Qantas Points and 560 Status Credits.
