Qantas Credit Union has brought back its 30,000 point offer for its Visa Platinum. This seems to run every 18 months or so, and it available until 31 December.
You earn 5000 Qantas Points upon activation, plus an additional 5000 when you make an eligible purchase with your card each month for the following 5 months. This is a good offer as you do not have to meet a minimum spend requirement; by requiring you to use the card over six months they are hoping to make the card a fixture in your wallet.
You earn 1 Qantas point for dollar on everyday spend and 2 per dollar for Qantas flights.
The annual fee is $195 which is quite high, but may be worth it given you could buy a newspaper a month on the card and get the bonus.
The card is a Visa Platinum and comes the usual concierge and insurance services associated with this type of card. Minimum credit limit is $6000 and, while not explicitly stated, minimum income is likely to be $35,000, which is the norm for Platinum level cards set by Visa.
It’s a good looking card an until recently Qantas Credit Union was known as Qantas Staff Credit Union – I always hope that they will ask to see my credit card at checkin and upgrade me as they think I am staff!
