50,000 Qantas/Westpac Altitude points with Altitude cards if an existing Westpac customer

Westpac is currently offering 50k points when you sign up for a new Altitude card, and spend $3000 on the card within 90 days. Normally this carries an annual card fee of $150 for the first year.

However if you are an existing westpac customer the annual fee is currently waived.  I’m not a westpac customer, but if you apply for an online saving account, which has no sign up, annual or monthly fees, you can then apply for the westpac altitude card through the your online login.  Your annual fee is waived because you are applying as an existing customer, even though you have never used or deposited money into the online savings account.

  • Wow this is a great deal. I just took a look at it and you can get the 50k QFF for any of their reward cards which starts at the basic:
Altitude credit card / Minimum card limit: $500 / Recommended income to apply: $30,000/ Spend $2500 within 90 days
    to the:
Altitude Black credit card / Minimum card limit: $15,000 / Recommended income to apply: $75,000
This is great value. Just note that as mentioned in order to not have to pay the first years membership of $100 you can open a Westpac Choice. The online saver account mentioned above needs a Westpac choice account. The westpac choice account has a $5 per monthly service fee but that is waived if you deposit at least $2,000 each month which is easy enough to do for me before I transfer into my mortgage offset acc.
It also states that “All special offers are for new cards only and are valid until 11 October 2016” So I might apply at the end of Sept as I just got the Citibank 75k QFF Credit Card ?

Also just to note: Existing Westpac customers who currently hold an Altitude, Altitude Platinum or Altitude Black credit card, or who have held one in the last 12 months, are not eligible for this offer.

  • Hi dgdean unfortunately the eSaver account states:
    – $0 monthly service fee(2)
    – (2)”To hold a Westpac eSaver, customers must hold a Westpac transaction or savings account in the same name. Fees may apply on the other account.”

So you need another account which why I recommended the Westpac Choice acc above.

  • Winddrifter you sound like you work for Westpac.

    Reward saver will work then

  • Haha nope. I just read the fine print.
