To celebrate the New Year, Cathay Pacific’s loyalty program Asia Miles is offering a 10% mile bonus on transfers from credit cards.
Current Asia Miles transfer bonus offer

Register and convert your credit card points into Asia Miles before 31 January 2020 to enjoy an extra 10% miles.
You’ll need to make your transfer between 1 and 31 January 2020. However, note that it could technically take ‘8 to 10 weeks after the end date of the Promotion Period’ for your bonus miles to be credited.
Eligible credit card programs in Australia
- American Express Membership Rewards (2:1 transfer ratio)
- ANZ Rewards (3:1)
- Citi Rewards (Citi Prestige customers only) (2.5:1)
- NAB Rewards (3:1)
- Westpac Altitude Rewards (3:1)
Should you take advantage of this offer?
Asia Miles offers cheaper redemption rates than Qantas Frequent Flyer, especially on flights to the US.

For example, you could fly Qantas Business Class from the East Coast to Los Angeles for 75,000 Asia Miles (compared to 108,400 Qantas Points). Without the bonus, that would cost 150,000 Amex points. With this bonus, you’d transfer 138,000 points, saving you 12,000 points.
Here are our best uses of 100,000 Asia Miles to give you some more inspiration. Plus, you can use 240,000 miles for a round-the-world trip in Business Class.
How to take advantage of this offer
- You have to register for the offer here before you initiate your transfer

Summing up
Taking advantage of a bonus to transfer your credit card points to Asia Miles can make sense if you have a specific redemption in mind.
Now that Asia Miles has a more lenient expiry policy (as of 1 January 2020), it could even be useful if you wanted to transfer miles in for a future redemption.
Wont be transferring more points until I can see more seats!
Availability has been tighter on Cathay Pacific since Asia Miles made changes to their program in 2018. Their availability is now more in line with many other programs (ie difficult to find premium class cabins on popular routes), but is well less than their exceptional availability that they did have pre the changes.
The relevant terms and conditions are: “Members are required to register via the designated link during the Promotion Period (“Registered Members”). Each Member is required to register once only; Registration after the Promotion Period will not be applicable to the Extra Miles. The date of registration captured in Asia Miles system is considered final.”
Therefore it appears that as long as you register within the Promotion Period, you will earn the bonus miles.
