Westpac Altitude Black Amex or Amex Explorer - which card has better point per $ earn rate?

Hi, I want to earn more reward points. I have been looking at the pros and cons between these 2 Amex cards. Westpac Altitude Black Amex and Amex Explorer. So far these are the differences I can see.

  • 2.5 vs 2 points per $
  • 1.26% (with 30% discount) vs 1.48% cash back rate
  • $0 vs $400 travel credit
  • Mastercard and Amex vs just Amex cards

Can you do a comparison between these 2 please? I don’t know which one is best to earn the points. I know Westpac can collect reward points faster, but which card has the best point per $.

Thanks

This site is about comparing credit cards.  I don’t see how my question is asking for financial advice.  I removed the word “money” to make this question more focused on earning reward points.  This is not just for me.  Everyone will benefit from this discussion.

I think one of the post is saying cashback might be the worst way to spend your points.  I just found out cashback is the best way to spend Amex points (if redeem at $1000 cash vs gift card).

Although Westpac earns more points per $, the reward is about about 0.3% worse per $ spend when compare to Amex.

Thanks for the Tools & Calculators.  It saved me a lot of time.
