a little confused in using the website, so i thought of creating another question.
I had tried to book via Qantas website for a flight, and i get 7800 QFF points. How about if i make a booking via travel agents like bestjet, expedia etc, do i still get 7800 QFF points or just my credit card (david jones qantas points CC)?
buy via qantas website:
I purchase using DJ Amex (1 point per $1), my flight ticket is $1000, then I get 1000 QFF points + 7800 points = 8800 points
buy via bestjet (travel agent)
i purchase using DJ Amex (1 point per $1), my flight ticket is $1000, then I get 1000 QFF points + 7800 points = 8800 points . Do i still get 8800 points?
Which one is better to get the best out of QFF points?
Your frequent flyer earn rate is based on the class of ticket that you book, not where you get it from. If you check out some of the points calculators on Qantas websites you start seeing terms like “discount economy”, “economy” and “flexible economy” and that will affect how many points you get, so the only reason you’d earn less booking on Expedia/Webjet/Flight Centre is if the travel agent/website is actually booking you on a lower class of ticket than what you’re expecting.
The qantas website will lay it out in plain english that you’re purchasing an economy fare or a discount economy fare, but Webjet or whoever may not specify what category of ticket you’re getting. So you may unknowingly get a discount economy fare from the OTA or whoever and then you’d earn less than what you’re expecting. But provided you’re purchasing the same fare it makes no difference where you get it from as to how many points you’ll earn.
Hope that helps.
