How to figure out the best airline/s to transfer flexible rewards points to?

Can anyone tell me the best way to research how I can find out what my points are worth and how I can figure out the best airline to transfer to value wise?

I have an Explorer and ANZ black (both flexible programs) and I don’t know how to go about finding out what the points are worth when transferred or which airline will give me best value.

Just to give a background I want to fly to Canada business or better on any airline from any capital (well Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne).

Hi,

This is a complex question.

Explorer transfers to the following airlines’ loyalty program:

Cathay, Emirates, Etihad, Malaysia, Singapore, Thai, Virgin Aus, Air NZ.

ANZ transfers to Virgin Aus, Singapore, Cathay

They all have their own transfer rate. Check PH calculator here.

Sydney to Toronto return in business requires the following:

Asia Miles - From 140k- 175k

Enrich - From 174k

Krisflyer - From 195k (not sure whether 15% discount is applicable)

Emirates - From 240k

You can check the other airlines for how much their award to Canada is but these 4 are a good starting point. Using your card’s transfer ratio, I suppose you can find out how much you need to spend on each card to redeem the business class tickets.

Yes! It is, so thanks for an In depth answer!

I was thinking one of the shared airlines so I can use points from both. I was thinking Asia miles or velocity so I guess I’ll look into velocity but Asia miles looks the winner from your response!

Thanks again!

I might add that that is the beauty of flexible programs. You find the airlines that tick your boxes then transfer it to the airline program before booking.

Do allow a few days to reach your ff program of choice.
