Qantas Premier MasterCard - no points earned on government spend?

Hi
I am extremely disappointed with points on my first statement, its supposed to be one point for one dollar but I didn’t receive anything like what I’d spent and when I rand up ask why they informed me that they do not give out any points for government bills, I paid my rego and got no points, this is ridiculous, it does not state that when you apply. I feel very mislead and upset by this. They will not give me a refund so I can find a better card, what is your opinion of this have you heard of this before. My last credit card I got points for every dollar spent, government or not!

interesting. i just checked the Qantas card website as I was thinking of applying. nowhere does it mention no government spend.

While the promotional material doesn’t mention it as clearly as some other rival credit card companies do, the terms and conditions say quite clearly that those transactions don’t earn points.

Since the Reserve Bank changed the fee structure around credit cards on July 1st 2017, many cards offer reduced point earning opportunities on government spend. You may find that your last card has also changed the points earned through government spend and if you had kept that card, you would no longer earn points at the previous rate.

Here is an excerpt from the Qantas Premier Credit Card Rewards Terms and Conditions…Always read closely the terms and conditions before signing up ANY credit card!

“Eligible Transaction means any purchase excluding
(but not limited to) Cash Advances, Balance Transfers, Special
Promotions, BPAY payments, purchases of foreign currency and
travellers cheques, transactions made in operating a business,
payments to other Citi accounts, bank fees and charges such
as interest and ATM charges, transactions made using Qantas
Points and government related transactions. Government
related transactions include transactions with government or
semi-government entities, or relating to services provided by or
in connection with government (for example but not limited to
transactions made at Australia Post, payments to the Australian
Taxation Office, council rates, motor registries, tolls, parking
stations and meters, fares on public transport, fines and court
related costs).”

So any ideas on would be the best option for a new credit card that doesn’t do this? Is there one that actually does give one point for every dollar spent?
