Any experience on accessing Sydney's Oneworld Lounge when on a mixed class Ticket?

Hi,

I’m looking at redeeming some QF points later this year to travel:

SYD-HKG  -  Qantas - Economy   (arriving HKG 1945)

HKG-FRA - Cathay Pacific - First  (departing HKG 00:20 +1)

As you can see as its a mixed class ticket I’m a little unsure of what lounge access I’d be entitled to. (For info I don’t hold any Oneworld Status) I’m obviously aware I could access the FIRST lounge in HKG, however will lounge access be extended in Sydney?

According to the one world website, lounge access guidelines apply as follows:

  • Connecting between oneworld marketed and operated flights:
    • First and Business Class customers connecting on the same day of travel, or before 6am the following day, can access the lounge when travelling between an international long haul (a oneworld international long haul flight is defined as an international flight marketed and operated by any oneworld carrier with a scheduled flight time longer than 5 hours) and an international short haul or domestic flight (and vice-versa).
    • Lounge access will be determined on the international long haul ticketed flight (either First or Business Class) regardless of the ticketed class of travel on the international short haul or domestic flight.
    • You must be prepared to show your boarding pass or itinerary showing travel in First or Business class on the international long haul flight, in order to access the lounge before your international short haul or domestic flight.
I understand the above, however do you think this would also apply to the QF SYD-HKG flight? It's much more than 5hrs and as such could not really be defined as an 'international short haul' flight.

Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks

Not possible. Lounge access referred to is between not the first flight you took. Secondly whenever you enter the lounge they only look at the boarding pass of the same departing city.  If it says economy they won’t let you in without higher tiered status
