Any suggestions on the best ways to book Melbourne to JFK with Amex Rewards?

Hi, we have a lot of AMEX Reward points and looking to go to New York in August 2017.
What would be your suggestions on the best way to redeem these points to get a business class seat. We would prefer to book early rather then leave it to the last minute, like i have read in regards to getting a seat through velocity points.

Hi Josh,

I too prefer booking well in advance so I understand where you are coming from.

I can see the following options for MR transfer partners. Point/mile cost is for 1 pax business return.

Cathay Pacific 160-175k flying with QF, AA, CA, QR (1 to 2 stops)

Singapore Airlines 182.8k flying on SQ (1 to 2 stops)

Best to check for availabilities and book fast since the seats may have already been released since it is end of Sept now.

Depending on whether your MR can be transferred to QFF (if you have Membership Reward Ascent Premium from AMEX Plat Charge, etc.) You can check on Qantas for QF reward seats but these may already been snapped up already as the flying kangaroo is very popular.

Good luck.

Thanks very much for that.

So what would be the process to use AsiaMiles and use Cathay Pacific to get on a QF or AA flight from Melb or Sydney/LAX/JFK.

I tried looking through Cathay pacific website , in redeem miles section. But i could only see flights through HK then onto JFK.
