Flying to Europe with VFF/KF - any recommendations on the best European arrival cities in terms of taxes/availability/flight options?

Hi all,

I’m looking at flying business to Europe in mid 2018.

Based on my research thus far, the ‘standard’ reward looks to be about 100k KF one-way Mel to London.

I don’t have to arrive in London and have read that taxes are more expensive there anyway and that some of the southern/eastern cities might be cheaper points wise.

So two questions:

  1. Any recommendations on best European arrival cities in terms of taxes/availability/flight options?
  2. Am I better off finding the cheapest points option to get to Europe and then just short-haul with cash ? Or do I try to find a points option that gets me to my final destination?

Hi,

I would recommend checking all EU destination that VFF and KF partners fly to. I would suggest starting with Etihad (involves large VFF surcharge) and Singapore Airlines. I can think off the top of my head CDG, LHR, ZRH, Milan. Check out their individual airline route maps.

You can use ITA matrix to research the tax/surcharge component for a particular flight. Check out this Point Hack article.

If you can find availability to your final destination in EU and the redemptions T&C allows, find a redemption to get you to the final point. Otherwise, you usually have to settle for what you can get and find a cheap intra-EU flight from the EU hub you are flying into to the final destination.
