AusBT report that Optus will be exiting from their relationship with Qantas Frequent Flyer, leaving anyone with an Optus contract without the ability to earn more points after June 30th.

Some customers in the comments on AusBT are reporting that make-goods of anywhere 1,000 to 4,000 points have been offered to credited to their account by the end of July, but it seems that this is not available to all customers.

If earning points with Optus was a primary incentive for you to move your business to them, this news will likely hurt. If there has been no offer of any make-good, you might want to get in touch with them and see what, if anything, is on offer.

Given the lack of activity and promotions to earn more Qantas points in recent times, I’m not so surprised that Optus have decided to go their own way, and on the flip-side it will open the door for Qantas to look at other utilities and telecoms providers as partners in future.
