Just received an email from Shangri-La hotel group’s loyalty program Golden Circle, advertising a new tie up with Singapore Airline’s KrisFlyer program.
Those with Jade membership status in Golden Circle (also available as a free benefit of Amex’s Platinum Charge Card), can get a status match to KrisFlyer Silver. If you are taking some flights with Singapore in the coming months, you can even get to KrisFlyer Gold pretty easily (3 flights in 4 months).
There also appears to be a two-way transfer program setup (a la Velocity/KrisFlyer), but it appears to be much better suited to getting a few points out of Golden Circle, than it is to use KrisFlyer miles to book hotel stays (could be wrong, as it’s just a hunch).
It is also worth mentioning that the KrisFlyer elite status is only valid for one year starting from the linking registration date.
In the FAQ section of http://infinitejourneys.com/en/faq.html#register-tier-matching/, it says
I have successfully registered for a membership status match benefit to KrisFlyer Elite Gold, and have been upgraded. Can my KrisFlyer Elite Silver or Gold status be renewed for the following year?
No. You will only enjoy complimentary KrisFlyer Elite Silver or Gold status for one membership year. You will need to fulfil the published KrisFlyer programme requirements to qualify for subsequent renewal.
