This is not a short-term deal, but rather a use of Enrich miles that I have not heard mentioned before.
At least one poster in the Question and answers forums spoke about having Enrich miles, but family members were unwilling to fly Malaysian. I think I have found a solution.
Many people will be familar with Qantas ‘oneworld awards’, which are a popular way of creating a round the world redemption. Enrich has the same thing, which it calls ‘Multi-carrier redemption on oneworld member airlines’. This involves flying at least two oneworld airlines, but there is no requirement to fly Malaysian at all. The redemption chart is based on round trip distance, and the rates are better than Qantas; for instance 35,000 miles of travel (more than enough for a round the world) costs 140K economy, 280K business, 420K first with QFF, with Enrich it is 140K, 200K, 305K. Business strikes me as particularly good value.
I assume the same rules apply as the Qantas ‘oneworld awards’; up to five stopovers and 16 segments. For instance, I have flown DUS-JFK-YUL-LAX-MEL-HKG-DEL-LHR-ACC-MAD-FRA on a single ticket using a one world award, flying QF, AA, IB, CX, and BA! It doesn’t have to be a round the world, so long as there is no more than one transit and one stopover in any city.
Unfortunately you will have to ring up to redeem but you can play around with the Qantas multi-city tool and then feed the flight numbers to the Enrich call centre.
