The RMS are adding surcharges to credit card payments from 1st September for E-Toll payments.

In line with the Government’s decision to recover credit card costs, Merchant Fees will be passed on for account payments made by Visa, MasterCard and Amex.
The amount passed on will be 0.44% for Visa/MasterCard and 1.54% for Amex cards.
You can avoid Merchant Fees by switching your account to Direct Debit.

American Express-issued cards mostly don’t pay out full points on government charges anyway, so best option is if you have a bank-issued Amex earning at 1.5 per $ then move to pay with that, or consider moving to Visa/MasterCard as that surcharge is reasonable.

Alternatively you can pay by direct debit and forgo earning points. Via email from myetoll.com.au.
